Think child slavery is over? Think again...
Perhaps you've heard of slavery as in mistreatment of colored people before the 13th Amendment in the US? Well, slavery doesn't just end there. Modern day slavery is called human trafficking, and it's all over the world. Right now, about 126 million children are working in hazardous conditions with little or no pay, and do not have the option to get away. Currently, there are more slaves in the world than any other time in history.
One in six children
5 to 14 years old — about 16 percent of all children in this age group — are involved in child labor in developing countries.
Most children
are sold into slavery by their own parents or other close people.
Worldwide, 126 million children
work in hazardous conditions, often enduring beatings, humiliation and sexual violence by their employers.

Stopchildlabor is an organization that works in the Child Labor Coalition (CLC) to provide information to the greater Washington D.C. community. Their mission is to protect minors, and strengthen protection for children around the world. This organization works by trying to influence public policy on child labor issues by education and helping more people understand this very serious issue.
