Thank you for attending the Gables' Open House!

Big picture

School Picture Day is Next Thurs, October 6th.

Check your child's folder for the flyer!

You can order online:

Orders shipping to the school typically arrive about four to six weeks after Picture Day and are distributed to students shortly thereafter, but it could take a little longer depending on production. You can always check with the local office that takes your photos for assistance.

The package will contain the sizes in the package description. The parent had an option to select whatever background they would like from the 60+ they have available.

To have the orders sent to school orders need to be placed prior to picture day or up to 48 hours after picture day.

Orders can be placed after that but there would be a shipping charge to parents because those would be separate orders sent to an address provided by the parents.

Please READ: Safety Message From The Principal

September 29, 2022

Dear Gables Families and Staff:

Here at Gables Elementary and across our Columbus City Schools, we are safer when we all work together to prioritize safety. I am sending you this letter to inform you of a safety incident and ask for your help emphasizing the need for students to report safety concerns immediately.

This morning, a student reported that they were approached by an unknown man yesterday during recess on the west side of the building near Willoughby Road, who attempted to lure the student away. The man threatened to harm the school when the student refused and ran away.

Unfortunately, we weren't made aware of the situation until today.

I have reported the incident to our District's Safety and Security team along with Columbus Police. I've also assigned additional support staff to monitor the playground area during recess.

The individual is described as an older man, with all white hair and a thin build. He was wearing a black shirt and pants, and a blue baseball cap and left the area in a black Ford Escape.

We all must work together to keep our children safe. I encourage you to have an age-appropriate conversation with your student to reinforce the importance of immediately telling a trusted adult if they are ever approached by someone they don't know or are in an alarming or uncomfortable situation.

Also, please remind them of these necessary safety precautions:

1. Never talk to strangers, get into cars, or accept anything from someone they don't know.

2. Always walk with an adult or group of friends to and from school and after-school activities.

3. Follow the appropriate walking routes and stay in well-lit areas.

4. Come straight to school and go directly home after school (agree on a time when your child should be home after school).

5. If you "See Something, Say Something."

Should you have any questions or information that may assist police in their investigation, please call them at 614-645-4545. Your cooperation and support will help us keep each student safe as they make their way to and from school daily.

Respectfully,

Jill Lausch
