Second Grade "Matter Experts" !

The new 2012-2013 school year is in full swing! We have been busy getting to know each other and learning what 2nd grade is all about. In Math, we have learned how to use strategies to help us add and subtract and practicing our addition math facts to 18. Don’t forget to practice your flash cards every night!

In Reading, we just finished our first DRA (reading assessment). We are working on building fluency and stamina while we read. Please read for at least 20 minutes every night!

In Science, we just finished a unit on the three states of matter. It was a lot of fun! Ask your child what a solid, liquid, and a gas are. They should be “matter experts”!

The 2nd grade teachers will be having a Parent Conference Night in early November to discuss your child’s progress thus far. Please look for information coming soon in your child’s folder. We look forward to seeing you!
