It's Kindness Week at Walnut High School!

Our ASB kids are putting on kindness week as we head into the tail end of the semester. Please take a moment to partake in the following challenges this week. A simple act of kindness always sparks another.

Here is how you can participate:

  • Monday - High Five 5 people!
  • Tuesday - Compliment 3 people!
  • Wednesday - Write an encouraging note to a student or staff member
  • Thursday - Hug three people (appropriate side hug)

KAPA Christmas Banquet

KAPA will be holding a Christmas Banquet for our staff on December 17 at 12:00 pm in the MPR. We will have food, raffle prizes, and performances. Please mark it on your calendar and join us. More details to come.


Online Referrals Rolling Out!

Thank you to the E building for piloting our online referrals. We are now going to roll out online referrals to K & F. If anybody would like to know more about online referrals, then please reach out to Kevin Wendland.


Fundraiser Requests will be filled out online, The link will also be on the Staff Resource Doc under Forms & Requests.

You will receive an email saying if your request is approved or denied. If approved, you will also receive a PDF copy of the form you normally would have filled out.

Michelle O'Shields Holds Animation Viewing Party

Ms. O'Shields 3rd and 4th-period animation class showed off their hard work with an animation viewing party last week. Ms. O'Shields had fresh pop corn, red vines, and various movie snacks. It was an amazing experience for our animators.

Cross Country Making History

Walnut HS Boys and Girls Cross Country teams both advance to the CIF Finals this week. This is the first time in school history that both teams made it to the finals in the same year. Keep doing big things Knox and Bandy!

Madrid the Mapmaker!

Mr. Madrid, had his 9th and 10th grade students partook in a fun game of gerrymandering using Mapmaker. Students were 100% engaged, focused, and strategic with every move. Thank you Mr. Madrid for sharing your passion and creating a lesson outside the box!

Sheila Sebastian investing in our future!

Walnut HOSA collaborated with South Pointe Middle School’s JUMP Division. Over 25 students participated after school to learn about proper hygiene to prevent the spread of illnesses. Thank you Shelia Sebastian!

Lisa Lopez creating rock stars!

Congratulations to one of Lisa Lopez's Choir students, Daniel Munoz. He was selected for Western Division ACDA Honor Choir. This is a huge honor and represents the best choral singers in five states! He will perform a concert in the world-famous Tabernacle in Salt Lake City. Lisa, thank you for creating these opportunities for our students.

This is a quick article as we start kindness week talking about asking our kids or students and asking the right question. I challenge you to ask students this week "Who did you help today?" especially as we have kindness week going on.
