Teacher Tablet Guide
Using Your Amplify Tablet
Permission Forms
Tablet Materials
- All teachers should have their tablet. If you do not have your tablet, please let Ms. Martin know ASAP.
- Returning students will receive their tablet from last year, unless it had to be replaced for some reason. There were a number of tablets that were replaced unexpectedly, so students may find that their tablet looks different.
- If you would like to check out a class set of keyboards, please let Ms. Bonomo and Ms. Martin know, so that they may have them ready for you to check out next week.
- Sets of 5 chargers will be checked out to every teacher. You are responsible for these chargers. Please do something to identify them as yours, and make every effort to keep them in your possession. Remember to lock them away when you have a substitute.
- Students should not bring their chargers to school.
- Each classroom should have the following posters: Tablet Care, Troubleshooting, Wi-Fi Reconnect. If you are missing any of these, please let me know ASAP. I have only had one teacher say that he does not have these in his classroom.
- You will receive a new trouble ticket poster by next week.

Teacher Material Pick-up
- Keyboards - available upon request. You will be notified when they are available for pick-up.
- Power Strips - each class should have one. If you already have one in your classroom, please let Mrs. Williams know. If you do not, you can check one out next week.
- Dongles - if you need a dongle to connect your tablet to your projector, please let Mrs. Williams know. You can check it out next week from the media center.

Tablet Distribution and Registration
Tablets will be distributed in the Media Center through Science and Social Studies classes. Please be on time, and have your students sit at the tables until their name is called. They will then sit back down until all tablets have been distributed. This should take no more than 10 minutes. You may consider having an assignment that students can work on during this time, to keep the noise down. Teachers are responsible for keeping their classes in order during this time, as Mrs. Williams and Ms. Martin will be distributing tablets.
Tablets will not be charged, so do not plan to use them until the following day.
Schedule (Please review and let me know if there are any needed changes).
Student Training
6th grade students will receive training on tablet functionality, internet safety, and copyright. 6th grade teams will decide how to do this training. Any other teachers that feel that their students need this, may use them at your convenience. You can find those modules here. Log into Playlist Builder to save these as your own.
Remember to test these out to make sure you can play all content.
Taking Tablets Home
I HIGHLY recommend having at least one activity to use with the tablets that first day, to set a good precedent. If you need assistance with that, let me know.
TROUBLESHOOTING
BEFORE ASKING FOR HELP
Help reinforce the proper troubleshooting steps. Students should be troubleshooting themselves using the poster before asking for help.
- Toggle Wifi
- Restart the tablet
- Ask permission to scan the Trouble Ticket QR using the QR Driod App, and submit a ticket. Someone will be by to get the tablet as soon as possible.
Amplify Support on the tablet can be used when students are at home.

Amplify Playlist Builder
The Amplify Playlist Builder can be accessed by going to playlist.amplify.com. Your credentials are:
Username = GCSusername@amplify.gcsnc.com
Password = first three letters of your last name + last four digits of your social.
If you had a tablet last year, you may see last year's classes in your Playlist Builder. Here are some hints to help you distinguish which class is which:
- Click on the downward arrow beside your class to see all available classes. The class that you are looking at will not show up in the list below - if you see one that says the same thing, it's a different class!
- If you teach more than one section of the same class (i.e., Math Grade 6), it will only show up once in playlist builder. Anything you put in that class will go to all sections.
- On the right hand side of each playlist, it will tell you which classes the playlist is synced to on your tablet. This will match whatever you have changed your class name to.
- Items in your Playlist Builder will show up automatically within a few minutes on your tablet.
- Items do not show up on student tablets until you share them.
