6th graders practiced their keyboarding skills this week. Their goal the past few weeks has been 13 wpm with 90% accuracy. Their goal goes up to 16 wpm after we return from spring break. They may practice their keyboarding anytime at typingtraining.com. Students can even use their Chromebooks to practice anywhere they have an Internet connection. They all have their login information. If you have any issues logging on at home, please email me. You can monitor your child's progress at home and school by going to the reports menu after they have logged into Typing Training. Many computer students email to ask login information or for me to assign specific assignments on typingtraining.com. I welcome these emails and respond as soon as possible. 6th graders also They also successfully completed a mini-unit on computer storage devices and storage capacity. Next week their mini unit will be spreadsheet basic functions.

Greetings From the Art Room!
8th Grade started their final Art project for the year and will be working on Altered Books for the next five and a half weeks. They will be taking old worn out books and altering them into works of Art by using any means and medium necessary to complete their vision. This has been a very successful lesson for the students in the past, and a lot of fun, and dedication. I will keep you posted on progress and with pics as they materialize.
7th graders are working on constructing collaborative cities. They are using cardboard construction methods to create community and collaborative art. Should be a fun end result as we piece them together.
6th Graders are working on a optical shading mini project, and are doing a fantastic job. We should be finished about mid week and will roll right into some positive and negative work as well as some drawing exercises.
8th Grade WIN have been working on PBIS propaganda posters and will also be digitizing some posters as well.
It’s been a great week at FMS!
As always if you have any questions or concerns, please email me cchapman@fulton58.org
Creatively yours,

6th Grade Band: Students are working on numbers 110-120 for next week. Percussion students are also being pulled for sectionals three days a week and other sections will be pulled for sectionals on the other days. As always, students are encouraged to work on their parts at home as we will be handing out sheet music for the ensemble next week. This is the first time that we have played sheet music this year and it will be very exciting!
7th Grade Band: 7th grade band is now working on their new books in class. We have started a unit on scales and are working on concert Bb, Eb, F, C, G and Ab. The books will stay at school, but we have started a new warm up. Students received new sheet music for their concert in May and are encouraged to practice at home. Students have also taken a test over their major scales and we are excited to see the progress from the beginning of the year until now.
8th Grade Band: 8th grade students are still working out of their new method books as well as new sheet music for their May concert. I could not be more proud of these students and what they have accomplished this year and am looking forward to their concert in May.
Wire Choir: Students performed at Playhouse Bistro on April 7. Students are enjoying learning more songs in TAB as well as working on various complex chords and melodies.
As always if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us via email at sblandford@fulton58.org or kneudecker@fulton58.org. You can also call the high school band office at 573-590-8135.

HORNET SINGERS:
Hornet Singers...though they be but few, they be mighty!
We are enjoying all of our pieces for our concert that will be Monday, May 8th. The students are so pumped about the new styles they are learning and I have greatly enjoyed seeing this excitement grow.
Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burning was an ensemble favorite but now Let Me Fly! has won their hearts. I encourage you to check these pieces out on youtube, you won't regret your decision.
We are continuing to work on our music literacy as we are sight-reading daily! Ask your student all about it...it's a game...it's a puzzle...it's FUN! :)
The choir handbook and schedule is online for your perusal anytime. (www.fulton58.org)
HARMONY HORNETS:
We are so proud of the hard work these students give every Tuesday! Our amazing group is made up of a mixture of 6th-8th grade (7th/8th band or guitar members) and has great energy and interest in making great music. Rehearsals are every Tuesday from 3:20 - 4:15 in the FMS choir room (G07).
We are having so much fun with our songs this semester and can't wait for our concert all about Spirituals!
If you ever have any questions, concerns, or comments, feel free to contact me at llehman@fulton58.org.
HORNET PRIDE:
Our singers are rocking our concert repertoire! I'm so excited for them to share these spirituals with the community! Their hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm make each rehearsal a lot of fun. Please keep encouraging our singers to keep up their great work!
ARTS ALIVE:
6th graders are wrapping up their study of music notation! We have begun performing basic rhythmic patterns, and students are composing their own! The rhythms they compose will be transformed to dance as they work together to choreograph a short routine! I'm impressed by their creativity!
CAREERS:
We are continuing our study of personal finance. Our recent topics have included saving money, reading a paycheck stub, income, and expenses. Students are preparing to begin project of choosing a career path, and creating a hypothetical budget to go along with their "future lifestyle." This allows them to practice budget and money management while exploring a career that interests them.
Please feel free to check out the two links below to try out the games we are using to supplement our study of money management: Bank or Bust and Financial Football! These awesome interactive games are options for students to check out when they have finished their class assignments for the day!
CALLING VOLUNTEERS FOR CAREERS CLASS! If you or someone you know would be interested in visiting our class to talk about your job or career field, please let me know. We are also looking for opportunities to visit local businesses. If you know of an awesome place, please share your ideas! Our students do best when they have the chance to interact with the people and resources in our community!
