HEALTHY SCHOOLS - STUDENT FLU SHOTS
- Pick up your Healthy Schools information and consent forms from your mailbox on Monday September 10th.
- Pass these forms out and send a living tree to remind parents to return these forms by the end of the week with all spaces filled in, if they would like their child to receive a free flu shot.
- Please collect your classes forms and paper clip them together.
- On Friday, September 14th, take all completed forms to LaTrese Smith's mailbox, located on her office door by the end of the school day.
eCST/RTI LIST:
If you have academic, behavioral, attendance, or emotional concerns about a student please place them on this watch list so we can all be diligent in ensuring they receive timely intervention. Thank you so much! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LrCqfZm71hJRGunS1j9rM1QbycyZPcvWSrWWDaTNTII/edit?usp=sharing
September 11th Commemoration
School districts are required to commemorate the events of September 11, 2001 with a moment of silence at the beginning of the first class period of the day.
Before the moment of silence, the instructor must make a statement of reference to those who died on September 11, 2001. Below is a statement you can read in your class. You can also create your own statement. You are not required to teach a lesson about 9/11, however, teaching a lesson about 9/11 is appropriate.
Here are the links to the statements for each grade level:
SLO - Student Learning Objectives
The SLO testing window is open until Oct. 26th.
- Pre-testing window is August 27th to October 26th.
- Student enrollment cutoff is October 19th (include all students on your roster on or before September 19th).
- Pre-approved SLO tests can be found on the SLO database, under the Resources tab.
- To access the SLO database:
- Log into the AISD Cloud
- Type SLO in the search bar
- Click on Student Learning Objective icon
- Type in E number and password
- Click on blue bar that reads: Create New SLO
- Enter and Save info
- On the home screen, you can access your class Roster to enter the score for each student
- If you decide to use an assessment that is not in the database, it will have to be approved (by campus admin) before you can administer it to your students. So please do this early so that you have time to assess your students.
- Your SLO pre-test must be submitted for campus admin to validate by October 26th.

FROM THE PTA
NO HASSLE FUNDRAISER:
From September 10 - 23, we will be asking Doss families and friends to raise money for our school. How will we do this? By selling wrapping paper or cookie dough? Peddling chocolate bars or popcorn? No way! This fundraiser is NO HASSLE! We are simply asking for donations. Our goal is to raise $60,000, which equates to $75 per student. Doss relies on these donations to support over 60 positions/programs! This year we will have three easy ways to donate: via text, website, or cash/check.
We want and need your help to spread the word and encourage participation. Parents listen to you! Feel free to post reminders and "thank yous" on Living Tree, websites, and Facebook/Instagram accounts with the hashtag #dossnohassle, and encourage your families to give! This shows them what the PTA and No Hassle funds give to you!
If you have any questions, please contact our No Hassle chairs, Kristen McDavid (kristen.mcdavid@austinisd.org) or Jeanette Lyons (lyons.jeanette@gmail.com) and they will help however they can.Thank you for helping us support our school!
PTA MEMBERSHIP DRIVE:
Our PTA membership drive ends on Friday, 9/7. We are hoping to get 100% teacher participation again this year! If we reach our goal of 600+ memberships we'll be revamping the prayground with new equipment for the kids!!
BUDGET REQUEST FORMS:
Budget request forms are currently being revised. Hoping to have them out for distribution next week - they will be due no later Friday 9/21. Principal Griffin will be coordinating with teachers and staff as to any potential requests. Revisions to the
current budget will be approved/denied by the Budget Committee and then voted on at the PTA general meeting on Friday 10/12 (if you are not a PTA member, you don't have a voice in the vote!!)
SUPPLY REIMBURSEMENTS:
Teacher supply allowance reimbursements are due no later than Friday, 9/28. Please make sure you do not include sales tax - use the sales tax exempt form so you don't pay for it, and the form needs TWO signatures!!
