Registration Open! MDE LGBTQ Students Project Workshops for Winter/Spring 2023

TWO SESSIONS LEFT IN MAY - LGBTQ+ students are still at disproportionate risk for persistent bullying, harassment, and victimization. In response to requests from school districts across Michigan, project staff created a suite of online professional development workshops to build the capacity of schools to provide a safe, supportive and inclusive culture and climate where all students can thrive. We are honored to partner with school districts to make these highly requested workshops available to school staff for winter and spring of 2023.

View the virtual offerings flyer for additional information about the workshops and links to register. In February, the project is introducing a new professional development offering geared toward coaches and athletic directors. The dates and times of the workshops are below. When your registration has been accepted, you will receive an email with an individualized zoom link. Spots are limited, so please note that not everyone who registers will automatically be approved based on the priorities outlined by our funders.

Participants who attend the full, live workshop will be eligible to receive State Continuing Education Clock Hours—SCECHs (1.75 hours) and Social Work CEs (2 hours).

S & S Printable May Fitness Calendar

The calendar is a great resource that teachers can share with students or parents can share with their kids and encourage them to stay active during the school year.

S & S teamed up with the Alliance For A Healthier Generation to create this fitness calendar for the month of May, 2023. Here is the link to the download:

May 2023 Printable Fitness Challenge Calendar

Students are challenged each day to participate in the activities listed on the calendar. For May, kids (and parents!) can practice simple fitness exercises during the week and on weekends. Plus, it includes some tennis and volleyball themed activities, which can be modified if students do not have the equipment. They can use a beach ball, or fill a balloon with sand. Another alternative is they can choose their own favorite sport in honor of National Physical Fitness & Sport Month. Or, they can make up their own activity.
