We Need You…PTA Executive Board Open Positions
It’s that time of year to get our Executive Board nominated and elected for the 2018-2109 school year. Have you considered getting more involved in the PTA and want to help make a difference at Silver Springs? A position on the Silver Springs Executive Board may be the place for you. This is a great opportunity to learn about the PTA and have an active role in all the things the PTA does for Silver Springs. The positions of President and Secretary will be open for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. If you have a first grader or second grader, this is an especially good time to become involved with the executive board. Contact Leslie Cardenas with any questions or inquiries you may have at silversprings.pta.president@gmail.com

Field day is Friday, June 1st in the afternoon. Please think about volunteering to run a station during this whole school activity. See the signup genius link if you are interested. Breakfast With a Buddy
Join us for the Silver Springs PTA's Breakfast With A Buddy -
Thursday, May 24th and Friday, May 25th.
This is a free event put on by the PTA that the students really enjoy. It's a great way to bring our families together and to show appreciation to all the 'buddies' who support Silver Springs students. We are in need of volunteers to contribute food items and we will also need several volunteers to work at the event.
Look for RSVP forms in the next Monday Envelope. Families with the last name starting A-L will come on Thursday, and families with the last name starting M-Z will come on Friday.
Any contribution or donation of time is truly appreciated!
Please visit the Sign-Up Genius by clicking the following link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/805084da5ae2fab9-breakfast1
Please contact Kate Leutheuser at lovejoykate@gmail.com or ph. 734-904-1506 with any questions you may have on this sign-up or the event.
Cub Scouts - Join Now!
Come join the fun with Cub Scouts! Pack 712 of Silver Springs is looking for Boys and Girls in K-5th grade to join our Scouting adventures. Our goal is build character, learn citizenship, and develop personal fitness; all while having a fun and enjoyable time. Over the past year we've gone on exciting field trips, overnight camping activities, STEM projects, sporting events and more. We also take an active role in supporting our community; both at Silver Springs and the Northville area.
Please bring your family and join us at the school for our open house on Wednesday, May 23 from 6-8pm to learn more about us. You may also view our website at http://cubscoutspack712.weebly.com/ or contact Jason Wilburn at jason.m.wilburn@gmail.com for additional information.
ATTENTION PARENTS: Order your EduKit now!
Everything your student needs for the 2018-2019 school year comes packaged in one convenient box, customized to your teacher’s requests!
Each grade has a specific kit.
**Please note that the supply kits are simply suggestions of helpful items and are strictly voluntary, as the Northville Public Schools provide the necessary supplies and materials for your child's successful school experience.
Gleaner’s Community Food Bank Cereal Drive
This year Silver Springs Elementary is going to join in the fight against child hunger by collecting cereal boxes for the ninth annual Gleaner’s Community Food Bank Annual Cereal Drive. Many children who receive free school meals go hungry when they are home for the summer. Last year, Gleaner’s Food Bank distributed more than a million servings of cereal to children in need in cities around southeastern Michigan, including Northville. Our goal is 100% participation! Please consider sending in at least one box of cereal to Silver Springs between May 21 and May 31 and drop it off in the boxes by the main office, because hunger doesn’t take a summer vacation!
Contact Christian Peck-Dimit with any questions at ChristianGregoryPD@gmail.com.
After-School Activities Student Pick-Up
We keep the main doors locked for safety. Kids Club families have key fobs so that they are able to come in and sign their student out of the program. Please don't follow someone into the building. Thank you for your understanding in putting student safety first and we appreciate your effort to follow these rules.
Supporting the The 7 Habits at home!
Habit #7: Sharpen the Saw
What this means: Balance feels best. In order to maintain and increase effectiveness, we must renew ourselves in body, mind, heart and soul.
“I take care of my body by eating right, exercising, and getting sleep.”
“I find meaningful ways to help others.”
“I spend time with family and friends.”
“I learn in lots of ways and places, not just at school.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Go for a walk.
2. Read a book.
3. Volunteer in your community.
4. Value the difference in others.
