A Message from the Principal

March 22, 2021

Dear Holy Family Catholic School Community,

I hope that you had a wonderful spring break and were able to have fun and reduce the COVID blues as much as possible.

We are now at the one-year anniversary of Governor Abbott’s COVID stay at home orders when we knew with certainty that our world had suddenly changed – but we have been courageous and have hung in there and kept our beloved school going through it all! Even through our courage and prayers most of us have felt the burden of this time of social restriction.

HFCS is planning a few things to help raise the spirits of our community.

  • For our students: Starting on the afternoon of April 9, HFCS is planning Fun Friday events to help raise the spirits of our students who have been feeling cooped up because of COVID restrictions. Middle School Fun Fridays will include enrichment activities such as: volleyball games, coding, science experiments and foot golf. We are also panning some fun activities for the younger students. Other events being discussed are: a MS line dancing and all student movie night on the field on April 30, and rotating class field days and Jump Rope for Heart on May 14. Safety precautions will be in place during these events. Look for more details on these events in future additions of the Hornet Herald.

  • For our parents: Psychologist Dr. David Welsh will be presenting a virtual parenting seminar on April 14, at 6:00pm, entitled, “Parenting in a Pandemic…and Beyond!” Join us for a virtual conversation with Dr. Welsh, a long-time friend of the Holy Family community. Dr. Welsh will offer tips for navigating your family through the uncharted waters of the stresses of family life during COVID.

As part of our Lenten almsgiving, HFCS is joining with the parish in a towel collection for the homeless. Please donate your gently used towels, or new towels, to this good cause. We will have bins in the library for your donations.

God bless you on your Lenten journey,

Ann Walters

Principal

Dads' Club 14th Annual Golf Classic

Want to get involved with our tournament or just help the school with a fun event? Golfing, sponsoring, and volunteering is open to all so please spread the word. Here are some ways to participate and help out:

  • Play in the tournament (better yet, put together a foursome) and spread the word to anyone who may be interested in golfing
  • Buy a sponsorship or sell a sponsorship to your employers, friends, or local businesses
  • Donate an item or ask a local business to make a donation (items are used as prizes or are raffled at the event)
  • Volunteer on the day of the event – we can use all the help we can get to make the tournament run smoothly and nothing beats earning service hours at the golf course on a spring day
  • Volunteer to be on the tournament planning committee

To register, go to the event website: www.holyfamilygolf.org. To volunteer or if you have any questions, email us at holyfamilydadsclub@gmail.com or call Jack Price at 817-875-2307. We hope to see you on May 14 at Squaw Creek!

Oh, The Places Kindergarten Will Go!

Kindergarten celebrated Dr. Seuss all week long, culminating with a balloon release. Each student named a location for where they would like to go! Then, on the count of three, the students released their balloons! What a great week!

Here is a service opportunity with the parish and the St. Vincent de Paul Society this upcoming Saturday, March 27th. We will be delivering your student-made Easter cards with gift cards to the 54 families that SVDP has been helping with over the last 6 months. Ms. Meg Ruhter has been recruiting the Young Adults and her Confirmation students but we can always use more helping hands. I hope that you consider volunteering with your families and as the saying goes…“More hands make light work”

RSVP to Terry at terrytrimble29@gmail.com by Tuesday, March 23, 2021.
