The Solar Eclipse wasn't a bust for us at BCMS! Our scholars had a ton of FUN and did a ton of learning! All our classes had cross curricular activities planned for an incredible day of learning! Scholars were excited and classrooms were buzzing with energy! Say CHEESE!

It's that time! School Pictures!

We will welcome Strawbridge on campus Sept. 11th for school pictures! Forms should have come home with your child on Friday. If you need a new form or have questions regarding school pictures, please call us at BCMS!

Map Testing- Coming Soon

Map Testing will begin for all scholars after Labor Day.

MAP testing is a great way for our scholars to show how much they have grown and an awesome way for us as teachers to use this data in our planning and lesson designs. MAP tests are designed to measure growth over time, so that makes them very different than our "state tests" known as Georgia Milestones. MAP tests give you tons of great information in regards to achievement at this moment. Here is a great article to read that will give you more information in regards to MAP testing.

Notes from Ms. Raeburn

This was an ELITE week of learning! It started with the Solar Eclipse on Monday and ended with delicious Kona Ice! We are now heading into our fourth week of school. Routines are down and learning is happening! Please make sure to ask your child how his/her day was and what they are working on in classes. You may not get a ton of information at first, but trust me, with repeated, daily talking and asking, they will begin to give you lots of great scoop. I do it at home with my own two middle schoolers! :) Middle school is a difficult transitional time, so we want to make sure that we are all working together to build relationships and trust with our scholars. September is going to be a very busy month. We would love to see you Monday (August 28th) at our informal PTO kick off event and Wednesday Sept 20 at our Local School Council meeting. We love talking about all we have planned and begin to think about what else we can do to make sure our scholars are learning, loving, growing, and thriving. I am proud to be your principal and would love to hear from you! If you have a concern or a comment, please do not hesitate to email or call me: eraeburn@bryan.k12.ga.us or 912-626-5050.

Remember: we have NO school on Monday the 4th and MAP testing will begin the 5th.

Thank you for your partnership and commitment to making #BeBCMS the best middle school on the planet!

Whatever I Need!

WIN period is an elite time for our scholars to work on goal setting, grade checking, acceleration of curriculum, and enrichment. The current schedule for WIN looks like this:

Monday- Goal setting and Grade Checking

Tuesday- Social Emotional Learning (Kindness Project)

Wednesday- Social Emotional Learning OR Academic Enrichment

Thursday- Social Emotional Learning (Kindness Project)

Friday- Clubs or Reading Time

Please ask your child about what he/she is doing in WIN time. Our teachers have tons of resources that they are using to enhance this time, including graphs and charts to track performance and data, and student goal sheets. We are excited about the addition of clubs happening in September during this time once a week!
