Questions and Answers about Our Ocee Maker Spaces
We're extremely excited that we will have two Maker Spaces running in the Learning Commons this year! One will be a space where kids build their own creations and the other one will be stocked with 3-D puzzles activities.
What is a Maker Space? A Maker Space is a location in our Learning Commons where students gather to create, build, invent, and learn. I provide the equipment and activity and change it throughout the year.
How do I know when it is my turn? Ms. Hutcheson will email you the week before it is your turn for the Maker Space. Each teacher will have one week at a time. It that week doesn't work, we will find one that does.
What times should kids come to the Learning Commons to use the Maker Spaces? Please feel free to send up to 4 students at a time each day between 9:00-11:00 or 1:00-2:00. You pick the time slot that fits your class.
Who plans the Maker Space activities? Ms. Hutcheson
Is there anything that I should do in order to send my kids to the Maker Space? Please let kids know to go to either Maker Space 1 or 2 and that they should be creative, work cooperatively, use inside voices, and clean up activities at the end of the 20 minutes. That's it! :-)
How long will kids be the Maker Space? Students will use timers and after 20 minutes will return to class. Choose any or all students to rotate during those times and dates.
Rules? Students should be creative, work cooperatively, use inside voices, and clean up activities at the end of the 20 minutes.
