FALL into the Mine Hill School District
The Mine Hill Township School District offers a robust elementary curriculum through research based contemporary instructional programs and upgraded facilities to meet the needs of all learners in our Pre-K through 6 grade classes. We are committed to working closely with the entire Mine Hill Community to enhance the educational experiences provided for students. The Canfield Avenue School has an enthusiastic and highly qualified teaching staff, dedicated support personnel, and an active parent organization. We are very proud of our students and the wonderful staff members who guide them toward excellence in education.
The first quarter of the school year was chock full of new beginnings, student and family activities, and student learning. Please peruse this newsletter, to see some of the great things happening at the Canfield Avenue School!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of our little panthers!

SAIF School Safety Award
Mine Hill Teachers Association
The Mine Hill Teacher’s Association (MHTA) took part in several events during Mine Hill Day. In the morning, a number of teachers participated in the 5K. Some ran or walked while others handed out water and granola bars as the racers finished. In the afternoon, we had a booth set up with a guessing game. Participants were encouraged to figure out the teacher on the picture board based on the clues that each teacher had submitted. It was a great day interacting with students and members of the community. Participation was possible in part thanks to a Pride grant from NJEA. The grant allowed us to give away the water and granola bars in the morning and a drawstring sports bag in the afternoon. The event was also possible because of the dedication of the teachers from CAS who gave their time to be a part of the special day. The MHTA values the connection with the community and is thankful to be able to be a part of events in Mine Hill.
Take Your parent to lunch day at CAS
During this event, parents visited CAS and had a meal with their children in the school cafeteria. The goal of the day was to learn more about what goes into putting together a healthy lunch. It’s also a good opportunity for parents to find out what their kids enjoy best (or least) about the school lunches! After lunch, parents had fun with their students during recess.
