Host Family Informational Meeting--TONIGHT!

Have you thought about hosting an international student at SMCHS but needed just a little more information? Here’s your chance! Join us for an informational meeting on Wednesday, April 20 at 6:00pm at the high school (enter in front). Tim Seaver, program coordinator for ICES, will be here to answer your questions and share information about the program. Please fill in this FORM to let us know if you can attend or to request more information.

Host families do not need to have a student in SMCS, so please pass on this opportunity to anyone you think may be willing to open their home. There is a $600 monthly stipend paid to host families and a $1,500 tuition credit for SMCS families for hosting an international student.

Class of 2022 Graduation!

Graduation will be here soon! Seniors and parents received an email with details leading to graduation day on Wednesday, May 25. Here is a link to the information. GRADUATION 2022 EVENTS

Parents and students--please note that there will be four MANDATORY student graduation meetings on Monday, April 25, May 2, May 9 and May 16 during 9th block after the student assembly (2:50pm-3:12pm) in the FAEC to discuss graduation details and to complete voting, hand out caps, tassels, and gowns. Seniors must attend all meetings.

Class Leadership and Awards Assembly

The Leadership and Award Assemblies will be be held as below. Parents of students receiving recognition will be notified by email by May 9 and are welcome to attend.

Grades 9-11 at 8:00am on Wednesday, May 18. The recognitions include Student Council Leadership Awards, Academic Letter Award Recipients, Academic Medal Award Recipients, National Honor Society Inductees, Forensic Awards, Other Academic Recognitions.

Grades 12 at 6:30pm on Wednesday, May 18. The recognitions include:

Scholarship Awards, Academic Letter Award Recipients, Academic Medal Award Recipients, Academic Plaque Award Recipients, National Honor Society Inductees, Senior Graduation Acknowledgements (Gallon Grad, Key Club, Volunteer Service, Principal’s Award, Exemplary Zephyrs, Christian Living), Laude Designations, Student Council Leadership Awards and Activity and Athletic Awards.

Prom Donations Welcome

It’s PROM TIME!!! This year’s junior class is hosting the 2022 Prom on Saturday, May 21 at North Shore Golf Club. If you would like to help to make the evening special, sponsorships are listed below. Thank you in advance for your support!

Kudos to....

Key Club, for supporting a former SMCHS student who is traveling to Guatemala City to help child burn victims. Key Club is challenging each first hour class to bring in as many items as possible Wednesday to Friday of this week.

The Forensics Team, for a strong finish in the WHSFA State Tournament in Madison on April 9. Receiving a gold medal was Lainey Becker, Daniel DuVernay, Catherine Genke and Mari Ladish. Silver medal winners include Noelle Anderson, Evelyn McKenna and Sylvia Walentowski. Nathan Bekkers was a bronze medal recipient.

Summer Strength and Conditioning Program

High School Strength and Conditioning (Entering Grades 9-12 Fall of 2022)

Starts June 13 – Ends August 4

Monday thru Thursday: 7:30am-9:00am

Middle School Strength and Conditioning (Entering Grades 6-8 Fall of 2022)

Starts June 13 – Ends August 4

Monday thru Thursday: 9:00am–10:00am

Please note that this program is for SMCS students only. There will not be a session from 10am-11am for high school students this summer and none of the sessions will be offered for high school credit.

Leadership Interns Needed for Camp Invention

Leadership Interns (grades 10 and up) mentor Camp Invention campers (grades K-6) and Leaders-in-Training (grades 7-9) to help them explore hands on STEM concepts and become critical thinkers. Formalized online leadership training is provided. Participants will earn up to 40 volunteer hours for graduation or college, scholarship or job applications, in addition to receiving a letter of recommendation from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

2022-2023 SMCS Registration

We have exciting news for SMCS 2022-2023 registration - there is NOTHING for you to do, at this time, if your child(ren) is returning to SMCS for the 2022-2023 school year! Our new enrollment management system will move students to the next grade level. Registration fees will be billed later this spring, and all existing families will receive the early registration discount.

Wisconsin Parental Choice Program – Application Deadline Tomorrow!

The WPCP allows eligible students to attend a participating private school tuition-free. Eligibility is based on student grade level and household income. Continuing WPCP students must reapply each year, but are not required to meet income requirements after the initial qualifying year. The application window closes on April 21. Excitement is building for SMCS's premier fundraising event, as Zephyrfest 2022 is just days away! As plans are finalized, here is some information you might find helpful:

  • Volunteer Opportunities: Many volunteers have been working for months behind the scenes to make Zephyrfest 2022 spectacular. As we approach the event, additional volunteers are needed to put the final pieces into place. If you are available to help on Friday, April 29 or Saturday, April 30, click here. Middle and High School students can receive service hours for volunteering.

  • Silent Auction: Online bidding for over 100 silent auction items will open on April 27. There's something for everyone, so mark your calendar to do some online shopping. A personal link to begin your bidding will be in your email inbox early next week if you are registered to attend the event. Anyone not attending the event will find a link on the Zephyrfest website on April 27.

  • Sweepstakes: Entries may still be purchased for your chance at a new car, Packers tickets, a wave runner or UTV and cash prizes. You don't need to be present at the event to win. Click here for your tickets.

The Little Mermaid

Zephyrs Community Theatre would like to announce that it will be producing Disney’s The Little Mermaid and Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. this summer! All shows will take place at the Jane Bergstrom Fine Arts Education Center on the campus of St. Mary Catholic High School.

Student of the Year Campaign--Camille Dinka

Senior Camille Dinka has been nominated to participate in The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Students of the Year program. The title Student(s) of the Year is awarded to the candidate or co-candidates in each community that raise the most funds during the competition, which runs until April 28. Let's show our Zephyr pride and help Camille win "Student of the Year"! Camille will host several in-school fundraising activities for students. Virtual Medical Shadowing Opportunities

Volunteer Crowd offers opportunities for high school students to gain a strong understanding of health careers. Visit this link for details on how the program is structured. Students can shadow Medical and/or Emergency Medical Professionals online.

2022 UW System Summer Workbook for Juniors

Pre-order requests are being accepted for the 2022 Summer Workbook through April 22. The workbook provides current juniors with all the information they need to successfully apply to a UW System campus for Fall 2023.

Summer Camp Volunteers Needed

SOAR Fox Cities is looking for students to help with summer camp. Students will work with campers 14 years of age and older with cognitive disabilities. The camp is June 7-11 at Camp Onaway on the Chain of Lakes in Waupaca. While it is a volunteer position, gift cards are awarded to the students, and training, transportation to and from camp and room and board are provided. Click HERE for more information.

UW System Schools

Email Verification –New student accounts on the UW System Application website will require email verification. Upon creating an account, a verification code will be sent to the email address used to register an account. Students will need to use that code to verify their email and gain full access to their account. Remember to use a personal email when creating an account to avoid future issues with email verification.

Practice Application Website: No applications submitted on this website will be sent over to campuses. Applications must be submitted on the real application website in order to be received by a campus.Tuesday, April 19 at 3pm, or Wednesday, May 4 at 4pm.

FREE FAFSA Thursdays at FVTC

Students and their parents can receive help completing the 2021-22 and 2022-23 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at the Appleton FVTC Campus in room G149. Drop in sessions are on Thursdays from 9:30am-10:30am, 11:30am-12:30pm, 2:30pm-3:30pm and 4:30pm-6:00 pm.
