Parent Notes

Yellow folder reminders. Please send the yellow folder back to school on Thursday or Friday only and then ONLY if your child is ready for the assessment. I can only test on Thursday or Friday because of the time it takes to do the assessment. Your child should continue to practice even when they think they are ready until one of the testing days. Let me know if you have questions. ARE YOU READY FOR THE WEATHER? I assume we will need lots of extra clothing if the snow arrives as predicted. Please spend some time with your child practicing the management of all their outdoor clothing. This is a big job for them. Some of the tricks we use, are put hats, mittens, scarfs in the sleeves of the jacket. Hang jacket and snow pants on hooks. Place boots together directly under the jacket. Set a timer, beat the clock.

Also, just a reminder for the future---School district policy say that students will go outside for recess unless the temperature is below zero OR the windchill temperature in ten below zero. THAT'S cold---So please make sure your child has appropriate clothing. ;-)

UPCOMING: Field Trip to the Children's Theater November 20th. Last call for chaperones! Three chaperones with background checks are needed. Let me know if you are interested. The times will be approximately 9:00 to 1:00. I will be doing the "lottery" drawing for chaperones this week!

***IMPORTANT---WE WILL BE SUBMITTING STORIES TO THE PIONEER PRESS THIS WEEK FROM EACH STUDENT IN OUR CLASS. THE PIONEER PRESS HAS AN ANNUAL PUBLICATION HIGHLIGHTING WHAT 1ST GRADERS ARE THANKFUL FOR. WE HOPE THAT SOME OF OUR STORIES WILL BE PUBLISHED. THE SUBMISSION NEEDS TO INCLUDE A CHILD'S NAME, AGE, AND SCHOOL. LET ME KNOW IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO HAVE YOUR CHILD'S STORY SENT TO THE NEWSPAPER BEFORE FRIDAY NOVEMBER 14TH!
