Yuppy Puppy Pet Spa This month the associates visited Yuppy Puppy Pet Spa in O'Fallon. The associates learned about the competitive advantage of their business model. Not only do they provide salon and training services to pets, but they shelter rescues and go above and beyond in helping each and every animal. Building that reputation with their customers is what ultimately made them thrive. | The Meadows Mall at Lake St Louis The SCC CAPS associates had the opportunity to visit the Meadows Mall in Lake St. Louis. The associates spoke with the general manager of the mall on how they remain to be a successful mall in this new day and age. Associates got to learn why some malls are failing and the strategies and tactics that The Meadows uses to be successful. | Bogey Hills Country Club The Global Business and Entrepreneurship strand went to Bogey Hills Country Club. They learned about what goes into and what it takes to run a successful country club. They met with general manager/president of the club Angel Walters who took them on a tour of the entire facility from the kitchen, gift shop, locker room, and the main dining area. |

U.S. Senator Josh Hawley The Associates had the opportunity to meet Sam Saffa, St. Louis District Director for Senator Hawley. The associates learned the business side of the government agency. Sam showed his support to Josh Hawley by redirecting every question asked to him about political issues. He strongly encouraged any young person to go into the government affairs by offering more insight on what he does. The associates all enjoyed how outgoing he was about being a politician. | Boys and Girls Club of St. Charles County Karen Englert with the Boys & Girls Club talked to the SCC CAPS program about the importance of non-profit organizations. Karen talked to the associates about grants and the process of trying to get donations for different organizations. This was a great introduction to the associates about how most non-profit companies work. | Farrell & Martin Brent Martin with Farrell and Martin Firm came and talked to the SCC CAPS associates about being a business attorney. He talked about how LLC's work and how important they are for the protection of business. The associates learned about how business attorneys are very helpful and necessary when people are starting businesses. |

The Expert Realty Company SCC CAPS Business Partner Rob Hussey spoke to the PM class about the real estate industry. This was an introduction into the field and Rob shared his story on how he became a broker and is now helping other agents. Rob also shared with the associates about possible internship opportunities. | DDI Media Jeff Waple and Kelsey Brewer spoke to the PM class about DDI Media and their digital marketing tools. Associates learned the modern technology of geo-fencing and other mobile targeting strategies. In addition, Jeff spoke about the use of digital bilboard marketing. | Hakeem Valles The SCC CAPS GBE associates had the pleasure of talking with Hakeem Valles, a retired NFL player and an aspiring entrepreneur. He brought quite a lot of valuable information to the associates and taught them how to take advantage of social media. He taught the associates important lessons abut self awareness and said, ¨Sacrifice who you are for who you want to be.¨ Towards the end of his visit he helped some associates with their passion projects and guided them in the right direction. |

SCC CAPS AM Cross Stand Networking Event
Later, the associates were called together to hear a keynote from Nina DeAngelo from the O'Fallon Chamber of Commerce about “the dos and don’ts of networking.” After the lesson, the associates broke into groups of 3-4 with one person from each strand for a few rounds of guided questions. After getting to know associates from the different strands, the Technology Solutions and Global Business/Entrepreneurship associates teamed up against the Healthcare strand in friendly competition of some "minute to win it' type games.

Finance 101
In preparation for the Edward Jones site visit in November, the associates needed some background information on finance. To help with this finance 101, business partners from Securus Circle of Advisors and Krilogy Financial stepped in to help.
The associates met with Michael Brown, the Saint Charles branch director and financial advisor at Krilogy Financial. Michael has been helping clients plan for their retirement and other wealth management for more than 20 years. The associates learned about how budgeting is important and how a financial plan is mandatory to be successful
The SCC CAPS associates as well as instructor Dan Tripp had a workshop with Securus Circle of Advisors in Cottleville at the new Public School House event center. They learned about finance, life insurance, budgeting, and retirement. The SCC CAPS associates will benefit through this information in the future while dealing with college debt and other financial needs as well as expenses.
