Monday February 15th - Friday February 19th - School Vacation Week!
Dear Families,
During this month we have a lot going on in our classroom. Our focus this month is on the theme of friendship. We will be reading a variety of books related to this topic. Some of the books include The Rainbow Fish, The Pout Pout Fish, and Do You Want to be my Friend?. We will also be talking about Groundhog Day (Tuesday 2/2) and be celebrating the 100th day of School (Thursday 2/4). The shape and color is month that we will focus on are heart and pink.
With having a focus on hearts this month, as a class we will be making Valentines for local Veterans. If anyone would like to have their child hand out Valentines Day cards you are more than welcome to send them in on Thursday February 11th. A class list will go home prior.
Here are a few of the activities that will be done this month in our classroom. We will focus on the letters K and L (literacy), along with the numbers 6 and 7 (math). We will be making Groundhog Day Shadows (creative arts), heart name writing and patterning (literacy and math), graphing hearts by color (math), dissolving hearts (science), making friendship bracelets (fine motor and social emotional), sorting hearts by color (cognitive and math) and so much more!
Be on the lookout for this months book order forms from Scholastic (Due back Thursday February 11th). Again any questions or concerns please feel free to send an e-mail to kasey.girton@chariho.k12.ri.us at any point.
See the note in your child's folder for the family monthly project! Due Thursday the 25th.
Sincerely,
Miss Girton, Miss Jen, and Miss Vicky
