ELA- Mrs. Wells
Science- Mr. Hayes & Mr. Geringer
In science this week students wrapped up their learning on magnets and electrical circuits. Labs and their reflections were due on Monday for both Mr. Hayes and Mr. Geringer’s classes.
Starting Tuesday students began on a circuit arcade project. Based on a young man from LA and the cardboard arcade he built at his dads auto shop- students will be creating arcade games that feature electrical circuits.
The end goal of the project will feature the 4th graders from our WGSD elementary schools coming to Hixson and playing the games that our students create.
Social Studies- Dr. Rachal
In Dr. Rachal’s classes this week students finished learning how European expansion changed the lives of the Native people of North America from colonial times to today. On Wednesday, students were introduced to the Country Culture project. Students will work alone or with a partner to research and prepare a presentation about a country of the world. ALL projects are to be completed for presentations on October 14th and 15th.
ELA- Mr. Gasparovic
In Mr. Gasparovic’s class, students submitted their Six Signpost forms for credit of the novels they read this month (Oct. 31 is the next due date for the next two novels). In addition, students reviewed the Six Signposts and how to find them in a story; the summative assessment takes place on Thursday. Students also practiced grammar (comma splices & sentence fragments) and proofreading skills. On Friday, students continued working on their Semester Choice Projects.
Social Studies- Mr. Gasparovic
In Mr. Gasparovic’s class, students have wrapped up their study of Native Americans with a synthesis question, putting their knowledge and writing skills to the test. Students then turned their attention towards review of the culture terms which will culminate in a test over the terms next week. Students will also continue to work on their Semester Choice Projects.
