Hybrid Reopening Plans

Big picture

Pacific Ridge Elementary Families,

The Seaside School Board held a special meeting last week to review the current COVID-19 metrics for opening our school. Currently Clatsop county meets the metrics for Pacific Ridge Elementary to begin the transition to in person hybrid learning and our School Board has approved our reopening plan.

Pacific Ridge Elementary Reopening Plans:

Our goal is to provide a safe learning environment for our students and staff while also providing consistency throughout the week & as much face to face time with their teacher as possible.

  • Two cohorts are needed to maintain the required 35 square feet for each person in the classroom. In order to meet this requirement we will have AM and PM cohorts.
  • All students will be onsite for 3 hours on M, T, Th, F.
  • AM cohort will attend from 8:00AM-11:00 AM (No bus transportation available, students in this cohort will be dropped off & picked up or will walk)
  • PM cohort will attend from 12:30PM-3:30 PM (bus transportation available, all students in the cohort will be riding the bus)
  • Students will complete asynchronous/assignments (in the AM or PM) when they are not onsite with their teacher.
  • Students will take their “to go” meal with them when they leave for the day.
  • Masks are required to be worn at all times for Kindergarten and above.

Grade Level Rollout:

Following ODE guidance our goal is to prioritize a mindful rollout of in person learning to ensure we are demonstrating the ability to limit transmission in our school environment.

  • Week of February 15th ~ Kinder & 1st grade cohorts begin
  • Week of March 1st ~ 2nd & 3rd grade cohorts begin
  • Week of March 15th ~ 4th & 5th grade cohorts begin
  • TBD ~ Beginning School Preschooler cohorts

Secretaries have been calling all of our K-5 families to determine A or B cohorts. They are now working on 5th grade. If you did not receive a call or have additional questions, please contact our office!

  • In order to ensure that all students are able to attend 4 days per week, it is imperative that we have approximately half of our parents able to transport their child to and from school for the morning session.
  • If you choose to keep your child in Comprehensive Distance Learning and not return to in person on site instruction, your child will be able to do so, but will most likely be assigned a new teacher.
  • Online Thrive students will remain in this program and have the opportunity to transfer to onsite instruction at the third trimester or continue in Online Thrive. Online Thrive will be offered for students until the end of the school year.

Thank you in advance for your continued support and patience as we navigate this very challenging year together.

AM/Morning Cohort ~ Drop-Off/Pick-Up Procedures

Big picture

Pacific Ridge “Cohort A” Families,

As we begin the transition to in person hybrid learning it is our top priority to provide a safe learning environment for our students and a smooth transition back to onsite learning. Cohort A students will be dropped off and picked up by parents/guardians each day. Due to our COVID-19 restrictions and Oregon Department of education requirements, only essential workers are allowed onsite. Unfortunately, this means parents are not able to walk their children to their classroom doors or enter the building. We have designed a drop-off & pick up plan that will streamline this procedure.

7:45-8:00 AM/Morning Drop-off Procedure:

  • Students may be dropped off starting at 7:45AM. School begins at 8:00AM. Please do not arrive prior to 7:45 AM. We will not have staff onsite to receive your child until 7:45 AM. Thank you!

  • Kindergarten & 1st grade families will drop off in the bus loop.

  • We will have staff outside with signs to direct you.

  • Parents will need to remain in their car.

  • If you live in the neighborhood and walk your child to school, we ask that you drop them off at the gate near the kinder/1st grade classrooms.

  • We will have multiple staff at the gate and in the drop-off loops to take your child directly to their classroom door.

  • All students will enter directly into their classrooms from their outside door or at the main door nearest to their classroom if their classroom doesn’t have an outside door to minimize cohort interactions.

11:00-11:15 AM/Afternoon Pick-up Procedure:

  • Each family will be assigned a # to hang on their vehicle’s rear view mirror.

  • These numbers will be mailed to you on Tuesday, 02/09/21. If you need 2 of these (one for each vehicle), please call the office to request one.

  • Please make sure your number is visible and facing our staff.

  • As you enter into the bus loop for pick-up, a staff member will type your number into a google document that will signal to your child’s classroom teacher that your car has arrived for pick up.

  • Parents/guardians will need to wait in their cars. Your child will be brought out to your car. Students will only be released to the car with the # that is assigned to them.

Thank you in advance for your continued support and patience as we navigate this new hybrid schedule together! We look forward to seeing our Kindergarten and 1st grade puffins on Tuesday, February 16th!

Beach Books in Seaside

Thank you!!!

We'd like to thank Beach Books for sponsoring the Wishing Tree during the holidays. Our Pacific Ridge Elementary library received over 40 books, donated by customers shopping in the store. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic more people were shopping online, so Beach Books included our book wish list on their website. Customers from all over the country purchased books for our school. Thank you to Karen and company at Beach Books for the new books for our school.
