News from Ms. Hess
In math this week, we are expanding our knowledge of division by using place value and estimation to divide decimals by whole numbers. We are also taking the opportunity to brush up on our division of whole numbers.
In literacy, we learned about differing points of view of monuments left behind in the past such as Stonehenge. We discussed how different authors have differing points of view and practiced determining important in finding the supporting big ideas behind the author's point of view. We also played a point of view game, "Would you rather?"
In science, we explored our first living systems. We created red worm habitats, explored what would break yeast's dormancy, and planted wheat seeds. Next week, we will be observing our wheat, designing an experiment introducing a variable to our wheat experiment.
Please see your child's Binder of Awesome on Monday for your PLP conference time in February. You will have the opportunity to confirm that the time works for you or that you would like to change to another time. Thanks!
