A Message from Ms. Lilly
RNE Newsletter May 13th, 2016
Growing
As we enter the final few weeks I am amazed at all of the changes! Students have grown by leaps and bounds. Students are engaged in lessons to showcase their growth! This has included everything from our Pre k celebration of learning, donuts with dad, a visit with the CBS 46 weather van, shark dissection, a writing showcase, project presentations to just name a few! It was exciting to see so many parents visiting to take part in these events. There is so much to be proud of at RNE! The finish line is insight and students are ready to jump into the huge shoes of next year!
As you have read/heard, the Georgia Milestones Assessment scores will not be used this year as a part of teacher evaluation nor as criteria for promotion and retention for 3rd
and 5th grade students. We will still receive scores for our students and we will analyze them as we normally do. We will look for areas where our students are doing well and areas where we need to improve. This will be one piece of the data we use to inform planning and instruction. The scores will also be used to calculate our CCRPI score for 2016. I will be sending out detailed information regarding the CCRPI rating published last week for the 2014-15 school year.
Next week, we will have time to celebrate with the return of field day. I am so excited and the weather looks perfect! It will be two days filled with great memories!
Best,
Maureen

SPLOST
Fulton’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) has accomplished much during the past five years. Following are a few highlights of projects completed since 2012: five new or replacement schools opened, four middle school additions were completed, 33 playgrounds and 23 gyms were replaced at elementary schools, new security cameras were installed in all district buses along with visitor access control installed in all schools, and more than 20,000 computers were refreshed or deployed to teachers, schools and employees. To learn more about completed projects and proposed new projects, visit www.fulltonschools.org/SPLOST or contact SPLOSTInfo@fultonschools.org. Investing in Fulton’s future: one penny at a time!
The RNE staff and community would like to send the following staff members well wishes and goodbyes on their recent retirement.
Cindy Young, Mary Bird, Maryanne Malone, Libby Nanney, and Trisha Brock
If anyone would like to write a special message to these ladies, please stop by the main office and share your memories about the difference they made in someone’s life. All messages will be collected and presented to the retirees during a celebration next week.
Kindergarten is rehearsing for their end of year celebration. If you would like to still come and visit your child for lunch feel free to eat outside near the garden. It is a gorgeous spot!
School Supplies for 2016-2017
While we still have two more weeks of this school year, the PTA is already gearing up for the 2016-2017 school year. We have partnered with Educational Products to prepackage and ship school supplies directly to school . This is a convenient way to get everything your child needs for the classroom.
The sale will run from May 9th thru June 30th. Go to www.educationalproducts.com/shoppacks. Enter RNE’s School ID - ROS145 - and follow the directions to complete your order. Supplies will be shipped to school for you and your child to pick up in the Gym during Open House in August. A flyer will be sent home in the backpacks shortly.
Please email Jessica Schumacher (jessicaschumacher@me.com) or Caryn Saker (cesaker@bellsouth.net) with questions.
