Dear Families,
Such an amazing turnout at the picnic on Friday night! It is always enjoyable to see the families getting to visit together and to watch the kids having such a great time. Thank you to our hardworking PTA volunteers who made this all happen – we appreciate the countless hours spent planning and preparing for this. We also appreciate our older (former) students who volunteered and earned service hours as well. We always have many eager former Brinker Bears who love to come back and be a part of this event.
Thank you for helping us work through the carpool drop off and pick up. We are seeing improvement with the timing, and we are working towards having NO tardies! As always, if you arrive before 7:30, you will not have a traffic concern. If you arrive after that, you probably will. We try to be as efficient as possible, and the staff has stood out in very, very hot temperatures at the end of the day to help with getting your kids safely to you each day. Since we do this as a service to you and it is not required, I ask in return that you exhibit patience and understanding if we are asking you to pull up further or to not load or unload kids on the opposite side of the car from the curb. With dismissal of over 650 children, we feel that we must always think of their safety above all else.
As we are nearing parent conferences (Monday, Oct. 10), please be mindful of your time slot. We need to get as many done as possible, and when one person runs over the time limit or is late arriving, this causes the rest of the day to be off schedule. The staff works very hard to prepare for this day, so we are needing your cooperation to help it move along on schedule. Your children may come, but will need to stay outside of the classroom while you conference so that you can give your full attention to the teacher.
On Wednesdays, the staff will start wearing college shirts. We decided that promoting higher education really helps our children to think about setting goals and looking forward to their future. You are certainly welcome to send your child to school on Wednesdays in a college shirt as well! We love seeing the different college t-shirts that our kids have, which also prompts great conversations in the classroom about where those colleges are and what they have to offer!
Best regards,
Barbara
Happy Fall Y’all!!

Dear Families,
I would like to send out a big thanks to everyone that came to our Watch DOGS kickoff and to the Watch DOGS that have already been volunteering. At last count, we have 110 slots filled up for this year! What a great show of your commitment to partner with us to help kids at Brinker succeed!
I also have a few reminders about attendance and tardies. Excuses must be received within three days after returning to school. Please also be mindful that students are considered tardy if they arrive after 7:45 a.m. We use the time between 7:30-7:45 for students to go to lockers, unpack, write down in agendas, view announcements, and get ready to learn, so arriving exactly at 7:45 or later can begin the day rushed.
Thanks again for all you do to support Brinker. We appreciate you!
