History of Chewing Gum
The history of chewing gum is somewhat unclear. What is known is that the Ancient Greeks chewed on a substance that consisted of resin from a mastic tree. In the U.S. Native Americans preferred a resin from spruce trees.
Flavor Added to Chewing Gum/Medical Gum
William White added flavor to chewing gum in 1880. Later, Dr. Edward Beeman developed a gum that would soothe digestive problems, and it is still used today.
