ocean facts

As you know oceans are everywhere and there one of the most things we need the survive.

Around 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered by oceans.

  • The world’s oceans contain enough water to fill a cube with edges over 1000 kilometres (621 miles) in length.

  • Ocean tides are caused by the Earth rotating while the Moon and Sun’s gravitational pull acts on ocean water.shipping their products across oceans from one port to another.

  • The largest ocean on Earth is the Pacific Ocean, it covers around 30% of the Earth’s surface.

  • The Pacific Ocean’s name has an original meaning of ‘peaceful sea.

  • Humans negative affect on oceans

First, As you know people who fishes for a living are called fishers, but did you know that these fishers catch so much fish that the fish have no time to reproduce[make more fish] this is called overfishing. Now there is a law that fishers can only fish in some seasons. Second, thing humans do a lot is littering. Littering can cause to the death of fish, turtles, and other animals by the see. You can help by not littering and if you see a peace of trash on the ground pick it up. Third, there are oil rigs that causes oil spills and oil spills can cause more death of animals in or by the ocean. A group of people called the REGIONAL CITIZEN ADVISOR COUNSIL are researching on oil transportation safely. Fourth, growing flowers can cause fertilizer in the ocean by runoff and a place in the ocean to have no fish and plants these places are called DEAD ZONES. One way people are making fish and plants come back to DEAD ZONES in sinking ships for habitats. Last but not lease, people cause pollution in the air killing fish and birds. One way to stop pollution is to conserve energy by turning off light when not using or turning off water when not using.
