Strengths Explorer

On Monday, January 30th, 77% of the sophomores completed the Strengths Explorer on Naviance with Mrs. Valonis in the library during Mr. Shayka's World Cultures class. The students that do not have Mr. Shayka this year or who were absent will be meeting with our department intern, Miss Richards, to complete the inventory!

What is this "StrengthsExplorer"?

StrengthsExplorer assesses 10 talent themes for individuals and identifies each student’s three strongest emerging talents, such as Confidence, Dependability, or Future Thinker. It provides explanations of these themes, strategies for capitalizing on each, and action items to help students gain insight into their greatest talents – natural patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior – to leverage in the classroom and in life. Resources available to students on Naviance, including the workbook below, will help students understand these themes and the career pathways associated with them!

Mr. Scanlon's Class - Room 127

Sophomores had completed a self-efficacy scale earlier in the year to assess their knowledge related to college-going tasks. Throughout the rest of the year, we will be spending time in class, in my office & in the library increasing their knowledge through different lessons, inventories, and discussions related to college and careers.

On 2/27, students in English II with Mr. Scanlon will participate in a fun and engaging activity to follow-up their completion of the StrengthsExplorer. During this time, students will also complete a game plan to start solidifying their goals as we move towards scheduling in March!
