Is this Normal??
Is This Normal?
As parents we are generally very intuitive about our children. We might be the first ones to sense that something is not quite right with our child. What do we do when we have concerns about our child’s development, learning or emotional state?
Do:
Observe your child carefully
Watch for patterns of behavior
Talk with other adults who know your child well (teachers, relatives, neighbors, etc.)
Observe other children your child’s age to see if these behaviors are typical for this age
Talk with other parents with children your child’s age
Seek professional help if problems seem to be serious
Where to get help: Where to get help:
Pediatrician or family physician
School counselor, teachers or daycare workers
Mental health professionals (counselor, psychologist, psychiatrist)
Support groups
Parenting classes

Problems in children can be corrected. What’s most important is that parents take early steps to get appropriate help for their children.

REACH Council Prescription Drug Take Back
REACH Council and the Midlothian Police Dept. will be having a Drug Enforcement Agency sponsored prescription drug take back on Saturday 4/28, from
10am-1:30pm in the ACE Hardware parking lot. We will be providing free and anonymous disposal of unused, unwanted and expired medications. The main goal of the Take Back is to reduce the amount of prescription drug abuse in our community.
If your school would consider helping put the word out to parents it would be greatly appreciated. Whether through social media, school websites or fliers, your assistance will go a long way.
I’ve attached a flier for the event, if you’re willing to hand out individual fliers REACH would be happy to print up more for you, just let us know and we’ll provide what you need.
You can contact me with any questions, my contact information is below this email. Officer Curtis Hughes is the Midlo PD contact as well.
If you are curious about the program on a national level here is the DEA’s informational link:

Thank you!
A Note from Nurse Martin
Spring is here and the sun is out! It is important that everyone takes the time to protect our skin from the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays.
The American Academy of Dermatology recommends everyone use sunscreen that offers the following:
- Broad-spectrum protection (protects against UVA and UVB rays)
- SPF 30 or higher
- Water resistance
Sunscreen alone cannot fully protect you. In addition to wearing sunscreen, dermatologists recommend taking the following steps to protect your skin.
