The Ambassadress of Peace
Her Background
She was a young Chipewyan woman, when she was captured in 1713 by the Cree. She was enslaved for a years, but escaped later on with another woman. She then met James Knight, and stayed to work with him, to help him make peace with the Cree.
The Hudson Bay Company
The Hudson Bay Company, a European fur trade company, relied heavily on First Nations people as guides, interpreters, and more. One of those people were Thanadelthur. After being captured by the Cree, she realized that the fur trade could be beneficial to her people. She also accompanied 150 Cree, to negotiate peace with the Chipewyan. She helped them make peace, and paved the way for the company's Northern Expansion.
