PALCS T-Shirt Design
Inventions 3-5: Combining Ideas
Time to Collaborate (Work Together)
Have fun and please don't forget to post! Your group members are counting on you!
Your Mission: Work With Your Group to Combine Ideas Using Voicethread
Step 1
- Find your name and your group number (see below).
- Read the message below your group list to learn what your group's job is.
- Discuss your group's job with your Home Facilitator.
- Click on your group's voicethread link (Green rectangle with your group's number on it that says "Click Here").
- Login to voicethread using your username and password that you used for the interview assignment (this username and password should be written in your inventor's notebook! See below if you forget how to login!)
- Look through all the slides while thinking about what your group's job is (what your group is looking for).
Step 2
- After you look through all your group's slides, post a comment by typing, recording your voice, or recording your video.
- Make sure your 1st post is about your group's job. It can be an idea or question to the other members in your group about what reoccurring theme or idea you see over and over in your group's slides.
- Respond to 1 or more of your group members comments. If there aren't any comments by other group members when you first login, wait a couple of days and check back. If you aren't quite sure what to say to another group member yet, think about it and respond later.
Step 3
You should have at least 3 comments posted in voicethread to receive full credit for this week's assignment! Remember, your other group members are counting on you!
- Your 1st comment should be an idea or question you have about either your group's job or the reoccurring theme (the idea's you see over and over in your group's slides).
- Your 2nd comment should be a response to another group member's comment.
- Your 3rd comment can be a response to another group member (the same one you already responded to or a different group member) OR your 3rd comment can be another idea, question, or solution about your group's job that you want to say to all your group members.
- If you are confused about what to say, click on my picture in voice thread to see an explanation/example!
*There are no Virtual Lessons this week due to MAP testing, but I will be popping in and out of your group's voicethread to check on your progress and help you along! If you have a question you can moodle message me or ask me your question in voicethread by saying: "This question is for Mrs. Suski!" I'll be sure to respond as soon as possible!

Your job is to look for words or phrases that you see repeated over and over!
*Remember: The T-Shirts must also contain the phrase: "Personalized Paths for Global Citizens!"
This is called a reoccurring theme! Even if the words aren't exactly the same, it might have a similar meaning. For example, one slide might say: "I like about PALCS because it connects students from all over Pennsylvania and another slide might say: "I like PALCS because it connects students with teachers from all over Pennsylvania." These 2 slides say different things, but they both are have the same basic meaning: they like PALCS because you can learn from a diverse group of students and teachers. So then, your group might decide that the diversity of PALCS is important. What other reoccurring themes (ideas you see over and over) can you find?

Your job is to look for color combinations that you see repeated over and over!
This is called a reoccurring color theme! Even if the color combinations aren't exactly the same, you might notice that you see several colors used most often. For example, one slide might use red, blue, and purple and another slide might use blue, green, and orange. These 2 slides include different color combinations, but they both use blue. So then, your group might decide that the color blue is an important part of PALCS. What other reoccurring colors (colors you see over and over) can you find?

Your job is to look for design combinations that you see repeated over and over!
This is called a reoccurring design theme! Even if the design combinations or pictures aren't exactly the same, you might notice that you see several design ideas or pictures that are used most often. For example, several slides might include pictures or drawings showing the way you learn at PALCS or the materials you use. So then, your group might decide that including these ideas in the t-shirt deign is important! What reoccurring designs (pictures or drawings you see over and over) can you find?

Layout: Your job is to think about where all the stuff should go?
Designers need to think about where to put all the stuff they want to have on their T-Shirt. This is called the layout! For example, do the words go on the back or the front? Should there be color or stripes on the sleeves? What size is the design and where do you put it? Is the design bigger or smaller than than the words? Take a look at the designs on your slides and see if you like the ways student's have placed designs, colors, and words on the T-Shirt or does your group have a different idea? Even if the design layouts aren't exactly the same, you might notice that you see several design layouts that are used most often.
