Mark's Monday Morning Memo
March 4, 2019
Youth Art Month Show
I had the honor of attending the opening of the Youth Art Month Show and seeing some of our Gatewood students and their families. Thank you to Renee Funk and Laura Grant for their great work with our students and getting them to express their creativity. If you've never seen this exhibit, you must go and see the the great works of art by Hopkins students. The exhibit runs through March 24, 2019, at the Hopkins Center for the Arts.
March Story Reading
Here is a link to sign up for a March story time. I will be reading "Two" by Kathryn Otoshi. This follows "One," which I read in the fall, and "Zero," which I read last month.

Girls On the Run
Thank you to our coaches Laura Arndt, Katie Hoefer, and Lisa Schmid for continuing the Girls on the Run program here at Gatewood. They will be meeting weekly starting March 19th to prepare for the Twin Cities Girls on the Run event scheduled for Saturday, June 1, 2019, at the Mall of America.
March 6th Staff Meeting
At the March 6, 2019, staff meeting, we will learn about Tucker's Sandlot Spring Training and about an enhanced dismissal process proposal from members of the Student Management Team. I will also be sharing a message that I had the opportunity to deliver at the MESPA Winter Institute about "Why I Am a Champion of the Underdog."
PTO Support
Our PTO is hosting a Parent Mingle this Thursday, March 7, 2019, from 6:30-8:00 at The Scoreboard Grill in Minnetonka so parents can meet other parents, build community, and keep Gatewood strong. I'll be there to build connections and relationships between school and our PTO and I invite staff members to join me to show our PTO that we are connected and supportive. Thank you for considering this.

I am needed to be part of the interview teams for the Hopkins teacher pool for new hires for next year. The interviews will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, March 5, 2019.

Data Meetings
Data Meetings are scheduled for next week on March 11, 13, and 14. The first hour will focus on Tier I instruction and the second hour our interventionists will join us to focus on Tier II and III interventions. Teachers should be prepared to bring student data and examples from earlier in the year and current student data so we can talk about growth, successes, and challenges. We'll also gather information on School-wide Title I strategies identified for this year and what strategies and focus areas we want to recommend for next year. Thank you.
