- Get them done by deadline!!!!!
Emergency Situations
- Each staff member has a crisis response booklet in their classrooms and in their yellow crisis bags. Please review these so you are prepared.
- Emergency Drills--Practice drills several times during the first few weeks of school. Use red slips for those students who are missing from your line. (Tornado, Fire, Earthquake, Bomb). Our meeting place for the bomb threat is the gravel road across from the playground. Make sure to mark your school maps with your exit plans when we get them. Hang these by your door and also add them to your sub tub. When practicing the intruder drill, just inform them of all the ways we will keep safe in emergencies. Do NOT scare them by going into detail.
- If I ask you to clear the hallways, this just means to keep your kids in your rooms and to shut the doors due to the hallways being used or busy. If I say "Teachers lock and secure your doors", there is an unsafe situation taking place.
Social Media
- Please use social media in a respectful way. Do not post things you wouldn't want anyone and everyone to see. Trust me, there are people always watching. On your days off, please refrain from posting on Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, Etc.
- Do NOT, be friends with a student on any form of Social Media!!!!!!!!!!
Fundraisers
Open House
*Students must receive a handbook sign off page and a handbook (one per family) if they request it. If not, they can view it online. They must also get Pickup cards or Valet Tags, School Compact, and other grade level decided information at Open House. Students/Parents must sign and leave the handbook sign off page and the School Compact. These are all available in the lounge if you haven't picked them up yet.
Office Business
- When students arrive to school after 8:45, they are considered tardy. Parents will sign them in at the office. If you haven't done your lunch count, go ahead and add them in. If they arrive after you've done your lunch account, Tracey will take care of this in the office.
- Try to get attendance and lunch count done before 9:00 am! For the first week or two, please do your attendance online and send up the paper copies. After that, Tracey will only need the online version.
- Breakfast is over at 8:40--Please help spread this to parents. If students show up at 8:40 or after, they will receive a bagged breakfast or a quick breakfast and head straight to their rooms where they can eat it in the classroom.
- Any box that you receive, the packing slip must go to Amy. Do not throw this away. Check that all items are there and then give this to Amy.
- If you take the Wal-Mart card, the receipt must be given to Amy. All purchases must be approved by me. Do not lose it!
- Amy will need a list of how your students go home. Please make sure to keep updating her list as you have changes.
- We will pass out notes at the end of the day. If you are in your room, we will hand you these notes. If you are not in your room, we will clip notes on your door or put them where you and Tracey have agreed. Please check this each day and make sure to add this to your sub tub. If you need a clip, let me know.
- My notes box will be on my door. If you need to make an appointment for me, please do so by adding an event on google by looking first to see if I'm available or by going and asking Amy to do so.
- Teachers may NOT charge lunches. If you do not have money in your account, you can not eat school lunches or breakfasts.
- Be aware of your voice levels while in the office. Try to keep side/loud conversations to a minimal when secretaries are on the phone.
Lunch Room
- Kids are to not be sent to the nurse during lunch time unless there is an emergency
- Kids will only be allowed to use the restroom for emergencies--if it's an emergency, they and their class will not be punished for this. We will not be taking clips if it's an emergency!
- We want kids to socialize during this time, but at a respectful voice level
- Please practice lunch room procedures and rules on day 1! Take them through before lunch to do a practice walk-through.
Grade Level Meetings
*Make sure you are prepared and ready to go so you can make the most of your time--Each grade level should have an agenda and norms for each plan time.
*If plans are done before the meeting begins, make sure to schedule time to review those plans with your team during this time. Do not just type them up and move on.
*Assessment Wall will be once a quarter again this year instead of monthly and it will be an online version this year.
* I will need a list of who is going to what PTO meeting and what PTO event. All staff is expected to attend the school carnival.
Grade Cards
- Grade cards should be completely filled out for each student each quarter, whether they move in mid-quarter or not.
- By the end of the year, student's grade cards should be completely filled out!
- Comments have to be made for second and fourth quarters. They do not have to be made for first and third quarters, but can if you would like to.
- If students come in during second quarter and stay for the remainder of the year, all of the grade card from second quarter on should be completely filled in. As always, if you spiral and assess skills from first quarter, go ahead and mark them as well.
Homework
- The ONLY homework we will be sending home will be a reading book on their level and math fact practice pages.
- Sight words can be sent home if needed as well (Just words for them to read). Not the sight word packets.
- If students aren't finishing their work during class time, lets have a discussion to figure out why that is before we just send it home for homework or take their recess.
Recess
- We should try very hard at not taking student's recess as a punishment.
- If recess minutes must be taken, please make the students walk laps, not stand against the wall.
- If students are loosing recess due to not finishing work, again let's talk about this and try to figure out a plan.
- Talk with your grade level to review recess expectations so everyone is hearing the same rules.
- Make sure students stay out of the area you can't see them (doors by Nurses office).
- Teachers MUST roam the playground. They are to not sit on the bench or stand in a group area to talk.
- Phones should not be used at recess unless to check the time.
