Redcoat Band Earns Class A Sweepstakes Award
On Wednesday, at the UIL Region 2 Concert and Sightreading Evaluation, The Redcoat band students completed the necessary First Division ratings to receive this award. The GHS band has not been able to achieve this accomplishment since 2010. Congratulations to the students and Russ Rutherford, Director of Bands, on this outstanding achievement!
7 Lady Leopards Qualify for State Powerlifting
A phenomenal 17 Lady Leopard Powerlifters qualified for the Regional meet, which was hosted by GHS on Thursday. In the end, 7 qualified for State, 2 earned best lifter awards, 3 were regional champions, many additional top place finishers. The team finished 2nd overall behind the defending state champs Springtown.

One Act Play Advances to Bi-District
Congratulations to the Gainesville High school One Act Play! Once again, Ms. Sims and her cast and crew have advanced to Bi-District. In addition, several outstanding actors and crew members earned individual awards:

Alumni vs. Varsity Leopards
Thank you for the community support at the first annual Alumni vs. Varsity basketball game! An all-star alumni team faced off against the current varsity team, and 3rd & 4th grade teams competed at halftime. This event raised funds for the Senior parents and Prom and was a great way to show the talent (past, current, and future) of our Gainesville Leopards!

GJH Symphonic Band Receive 1st Division Rating
On Thursday, March 5 the Gainesville Junior High Concert and Symphonic Bands participated in the Sounds of Spring Music Festival in Princeton, TX. This adjudicated contest is structured to mirror the UIL Concert and Sightreading contest that the students will be attending in early April. Both bands performed exceedingly well, with the Concert Band receiving a 2nd Division rating (good) and the Symphonic Band receiving a 1st Division rating (outstanding).
Campus leaders attend National Conference
It's Round-Up Time!
Gainesville ISD will be hosting 2020-2021 registration round up for all students entering Head Start, Pre-K, or Kindergarten in the Fall. There will be three opportunities for extended registration hours. On March 3 and April 28, Edison Elementary located at 1 Edison Drive, will be open for registration from 8am-7pm. On April 6, the round-up will take place from 4pm-7pm at Harvey Street Baptist Church, located at 201 Harvey Street.
Parents of students who will be 3, 4, or 5 years of age before September 1, 2020 are encouraged to attend one of these events. Kindergarten is open to any student who will be 5 years of age on September 1, 2020. Head Start is open to qualifying 3- and 4-year-old students and Pre-K is open to qualifying 4-year-old students. Qualifying factors vary for each program, so parents are encouraged to attend to determine if their student meets eligibility requirements.
