Public Invited to View Scott Building Last Time Before Demolition
Members of the community who have ties to Galveston ISD’s Scott Building are invited to walk its halls one last time from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3., before the structure's upcoming demolition.
The building has served various purposes, including existing as Scott Elementary School, Scott Academy, Ball High North, and the Early College High School.
The late Charles B. Scott, the building’s namesake, was a sponsor of both Ball High’s Interact Club and Central High School’s Esquire Club. He was also a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the Gamma Pi Lambda Chapter.
The demolition is occurring as the district prepares for the construction of the new high school.

GEF Awards $157,856 in Grants During Prize Parade
Halls throughout our district were abuzz with all kinds of excitement last week, as the GISD Educational Foundation surprised unsuspecting teachers and administrators with grant award checks - a total of 30 awards totaling $157,856.29.
There were smiles, happy dances, and even some tears. Join us in saying
congratulations to these extremely deserving recipients, and thank you to GEF and all the amazing individuals and organizations who support its mission for helping make these gifts a reality!

"Kelley's Angels" Adopt-A-Child for Christmas Project
GISD's Discovery Club is a program that operates under TEHCY (Texas Education for Homeless Children and Youth). We provide services to the children and families of GISD that have the most need. We assist our students and parents with different resources that are available throughout the school year.
We are preparing for our annual "Kelley's Angels" Adopt-A-Child for Christmas Project. We have selected students for the Adopt-A-Child Christmas Project from each campus with the assistance of campus staff. We have chosen students who are present in school in spite of the barriers they face daily. Each year, The Discovery Club hosts a Christmas celebration for the students and they will receive Christmas gifts from individuals or businesses who have adopted them.
Our community has been a great asset to the students of Galveston ISD. We greatly appreciate your continued support of our students.
We need your help! Students have provided a small list of their needs and wants. They often ask for items such as a bicycle, a basketball, art supplies, dolls, food, clothes and other items. We would like to respectfully request that individuals or your business/ agency assist us by selecting a student or donating a bicycle. Your generosity and partnership will be greatly appreciated.
To participate, email MaryPatrick@gisd.org.

JROTC hosting Turkey Shoot Fundraiser TODAY!
Support JROTC's biggest fundraiser of the year by attending this event!
How does it work? For every $5 ticket purchased, participants will receive three air rifle pellet shots at a paper turkey, just like a carnival game. The participant with the highest score every 30 minutes will receive a frozen turkey in a Home Depot iced bucket.
Please note: These air rifles are quiet, safe, and Cadet Safety Officers will be present to assist. Students are allowed to participate but only after the conclusion of the school day. IDs must be presented to enter the campus. Visitors will be escorted by cadets. Coffee and assorted goodies will be available for participants. See you there!
For more information, see the flyer below or contact Major Mark Knight, Ball High School JROTC Senior Army Instructor, at (409) 766-5846.
Special thanks to Arlan’s Market for donating more than 20 Frozen Butterball Turkeys to help make this event a success.
