Electronics instead of Text Books📱

Textbooks should be replaced with electronics

The arguement

I Think that textbooks should be replaced with electronics because they are very reliable. They offer many different apps for learning. They also would also reduce the amount of backpack related injuries. Also they are environmentally safe because they reduce paper use. Those are a few reasons why I think personally we should have electronics.

Not so much to carry

Pediatricians and chiropractors recommend that kids should carry less than 15% in a backpack, but all books combined exceed the percent according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. In 2011-2012 more than 13,700 kids 5 to 18 were treated for backpack related injuries. An ipad weighs a lot less and is more safe.

Lower amount of paper teachers would use

Lower amount of paper use. A school with 100 teachers uses 250,000 pieces annually. A school with 1,000 students spends 3,000-4,000 dollars monthly on paper, ink, and toner, not counting when the printer breaks. It would be a lot cheaper because you would not spend as much on the electronics.

Personalization

Teachers can personalize learning with a variety of learning apps. If teachers use textbooks they cannot personalize teaching because there is no way to change the information. They offer apps in science, math, reading, language, ect. Also it would be easier because all of those books would be in one device. Personalizing the apps would definitely help out with the kids who struggle because they could go at their own pace.

Pros&Cons

  • Pros

  • Saves trees

  • Cons
  • May crash
  • Breaks easily
  • Expensive

Conclusion

Those are a few reasons why we should have textbooks. Also doing projects like these are a lot easier. The number of backpack related injuries would decrease too. They are more safe than books .
