How to Prepare Your Scholar for the CAASPP Test
You are an important part of your scholar’s education. Here are some things you can do to help your scholar as he/she prepares for the test:
Talk about the test with your scholar(s). Make sure they are not scared or anxious.
Tell your scholar(s) that you and his or her teacher have high expectations and that you are all there to help, every step of the way.
Take a practice test with your scholar(s) on the California Department of Education website.
Make sure your scholar(s) gets a good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast before testing.
Pack a nutritious snack, lunch and water for your scholar(s) to bring with them.
Your scholar(s) may bring their own earbuds if they choose to use their own or headphones will be provided.
Remind your scholar(s) that electronic devices are not allowed in the testing areas. Scholars will be asked to turn their phones off and put them away during testing sessions. They may access their phones during group breaks and lunch.
Encourage your scholar(s) to bring a book or magazine in case they finish a test section early. They will not be able to access any electronic device while other scholars are still testing.
