The mission of Sioux Center Christian School is to disciple God’s children by equipping them with a knowledge and understanding of Christ and His creation so that they can obediently serve God and others as they work and play.
Every Student TREASURED, Every Student TRAINED, Every Student TRANSFORMED
THE STORIES OF SCCS: Tara Dekkers, 4Care Specialist
How long have you served/been at/been involved with SCCS?
This is my first year working at SCCS. I have been a part of the SCCS community since our oldest son started kindergarten in 2006.
What's something interesting about you?
- I have been babysitting regularly or caring for children since I was 11 years old.
How does your role fulfill the mission of Sioux Center Christian School? How are you Living God’s Story at SCCS?
God gave me a love of working with young children years ago. It is amazing how God has written my story that has included working with and caring for young children for most of my life. I love working at SCCS and being able to show each child God's love for them. From exploring God's world on our nature walks to exploring outer space to learning about animals and so much more, I can show children that God touches every part of their life and we can shine for Him in all our work and play.
Why do you choose to be part of the SCCS community?
God was working on my heart for change. When the position for 4Care at SCCS had an opening, I felt God was pushing me to take the steps for this change. I love being at school with my three youngest children and being a part of SCCS.
Which throughline do you most identify with and why?
Image Reflector: “Seeing God’s image in others.... Christ’s light shines in a dark world."
I love to see God's light shine through children. The storyline we started our year with is "This Little Light of Mine." No matter what our age, we can shine for Jesus in words and actions.
What is most important to you about SCCS?
We are a community of believers praising and serving God together.
GRANDPARENTS/SPECIAL FRIEND
It was wonderful to have so many grandparents and special friends in the building on Friday.
We LOVE to have our building FILLED with the people who love and treasure our SCCS kids even more than we do!
THANK YOU, grandparents & special friends!! Whether you are here or far away, you play a VITAL role in the lives of God's kids as the learn and live God's Story!!
RESOURCE OFFICER
"We are thrilled to have Josh Koedam joining the team as our school resource officer,” said Josh Bowar, head of school at Sioux Center Christian. “Safety is our priority at SCCS, and we want to do everything possible to provide our students, faculty, staff and visitors with a warm, safe learning and working environment. That’s a major promise that we make to parents who send children to our school. In today’s world, it makes sense to take the next step in having an armed officer present in the Sioux Center school buildings. I am thankful to be working with the public school and the city to make this happen.”

- Please check the online calendar for upcoming events (http://www.siouxcenterchristian.com/calendar.cfm)

TUITION GRANT INFORMATION FOR 23/24 SCHOOL YEAR
Our desire is to have Christian education as accessible for as many families as possible. We believe that what God is doing at SCCS is so important that we want all mission-appropriate families who meet all admissions requirements to have access!
We are excited and thankful to offer generous tuition support to our families.
Families applying for tuition grants (which includes both NICSTO funding and the SCCS Tuition grant fund) need to fill out the application. You can find the application at https://www.siouxcenterchristian.com/currentfamilies/tuitiongrantapplication.cfm We have moved to a streamlined form for all tuition grant programs - so families just need to complete one form. We will no longer be using an online service.
For the 2023-2024 school year, education savings accounts (ESAs) are available to those who have an incoming K student, anyone transferring from a public school, and families who have an adjusted gross income below 300% of the poverty line. NICSTO funds are available for anyone below 400% of the poverty line. We encourage all families to look at their tax return and apply for a tuition grant if you are below 400% of the poverty line. We recognize that families between 300 and 400% will not be eligible for an ESA until the 2024-2025 school year, so we especially want to be able to support families in this bracket through NICSTO funding. So, please apply if this is you!
Please complete the form provided in the link above (which will ask you to include your adjusted gross income from Federal Form 1040, line 11) and turn in the form and a copy of pages 1 and 2 of Federal Form 1040.
Applications are due May 25 (the last day of school). Printed copies of the form are available in the office. If you have questions, please contact Kelli Van Roekel at kvanroekel@siouxcenterchristian.com.
LIBRARY INFORMATION
This year our SCCS library was a place to Find the BEST Story! All library books are due Friday, May 12. You’ll receive an email and a paper notice sent with your child if you have an end of the year library fine.
Email jvansoelen@siouxcenterchristian.com if you have questions. Thank you!
