North Texas Book Battle
Castleberry HS Team! Let's take home the Big prize again!
How does a Book Battle work?
Team members will read 10 books throughout the year. We will take a field trip to compete against other local high schools whose team members have all read those same 10 books. A max of 12 people from each school will actually be able to compete in each battle, but we can take turns throughout the day if we keep winning. I can also bring some additional students along as volunteers and back-up subs. Teams of 4 students at a time will face off against 4 students from the opposing school, taking turns to answer questions about the 10 books. Points will be tallied at the end of three 20-question rounds, and winning schools will advance on to the finals in a double-elimination style competition. At the end, one school will walk away with a trophy and the champion title!
Practice Questions
When and where is the competition?
We will compete in April at Barnes and Noble in Southlake Town Square. We will load the bus at CHS at approximately 7:45 am, have a meet-and-greet with the other schools when we arrive, and the battles will begin at 10:00 am. All teams will enjoy lunch at the Square and some possibly some afternoon shopping time before returning back to school on the bus.

How much does it cost to participate in the NTBOB?
The books will be available for you to borrow free of charge. Students are not required to purchase their own copies of the books. Multiple library copies have been purchased. Check out books from Mrs. Lamb or Ms. McCrary.
You will also need approximately $20.00 for lunch at Southlake Town Square. There are several sit-down restaurants in the area including Snuffers, Cheesecake Factory, and Brio. You do not need to pay this in advance, just bring it, or bring a sack lunch, on the day of competition.
Thank you for your participation in the North Texas Book Battle this year!
We are looking forward to a positive experience for the benefit and enjoyment of all students! Let's work hard and bring home the championship trophy again!
