Library Lessons and Activities
Monster Making
First grade students created LEGO monsters of their own design after listening to the book "Monster and Mouse Go Camping" by Deborah Underwood.
Summer Reading Tea
Some of our summer readers enjoyed "A Treat with Mrs. Tinsley" featuring scarecrow cookies and lemonade in the library!
Counting on Katherine
4th grade students read "Counting on Katherine: How Katherine Johnson Saved Apollo 13" and created space capsules with coffee filter parachutes for a slow, safe "splash-down."
Balloons Over Broadway
Fifth graders listened to the book "Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy's Parade" by Melissa Sweet before making a little parade of their own.
Balloon Characters
Students worked in teams to design and build one of the balloon characters featured in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
A "Dash-ing" Parade
Students coded Dash Robots to follow a parade route that resembled the course through New York City streets.
