St Bernadette's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 0 | 16 July 2021

Message from Geordie
Good afternoon everyone,
Just a very quick one from me to say WELCOME BACK to Term 3 at St Bernadette’s.
I hope that you have had an enjoyable holiday period and managed to keep warm and dry. I have had a very relaxed few weeks - a trip to Yunderup with some close friends, hours spent building large Lego constructions, lots of footy and swimming practice, washing Fred ready for Term 3 and I have been loving watching le Tour de France each evening!
Thankfully, the COVID outbreak from the end of last term has passed and I look forward to welcoming parents back onsite when students return on Tuesday 20th July. These situations really do put things into perspective and have made me realise how lucky we are to live here in WA and more specifically, in such an amazing community like St Bernadette’s. I can’t thank everyone enough for how you supported our staff and students through the last week of Term 2.
It is going to be another exciting and busy term here at St Bernie’s with lots to look forward to. On Friday of Week One we will celebrating the start of term with an Opening Mass at 9am and all being well, we look to inviting our parents to help us celebrate. In Week 2, our Year 3 Red Gang will be entertaining us with their assembly item and again, we look forward to seeing our families there too!
Work on our Strategic Plan begins with staff next Monday. There will be a survey for all families to complete going out in Week 1 - please look out for an email next week. The information we receive will help to inform decisions and directions for the future.

Finally as I mentioned last term, we will be implementing our new Homework Procedures in Term 3, beginning in Week 2. We hope this will make it easier for families and give consistency through the school. I will seek some feedback in Term 4 to gauge how staff, parents and children are feeling about homework to see if any changes need to be implemented.
Hope you all enjoy the weekend and I can’t wait to get into another great term here at St Bernie’s!

A little something to remember as we start Term 3.

Compliance and Policy section
Below is our revised Homework Procedure document that has been written with feedback from parents and had input from a team of our staff. While there are always very different opinions on topics like this, we believe we have a document that reflects the majority of our community and is manageable for teachers and families.
Our goals are:
1. To be consistent. Homework should be the same across each year group.
2. To be appropriate to the age of the students. Increasing in quantity each year.
3. To be aligned with what is happening in class.
