The Weekly Hoot
June 18-24, 2018
Greetings All -
Hey everyone! I hope all of you are still enjoying summertime. I can see by Facebook that several of you are on vacations, so please remember to send me some pics for the Hoot!
Amy Keally, Dana Wagner, and I went to the TEPSA conference in Austin this week. We had a great time learning about many ways to improve our school by focusing on what we already do! Looking forward to the next few weeks, as well as August, to see all of it gel together.
I have been working very hard on the master schedule this past week. We have a few things we need to change on it, let a few more people look at it, and work out a couple of kinks, but it will be ready to go soon.
Since I have been gone to TEPSA, I am not sure of the status of the room cleaning at this point. I know when I left that New Blue Hall was being worked on. After New Blue, the Green Hallway should be next. If you are unsure about whether or not your room has been cleaned or not, just give me a shout and I will let you know.
STAAR scores are in and I am pleased. I will send them out to everyone in a separate email so that you all can see them as well. As everyone knows, we ALL have a part in this, so everyone can breathe a sigh of relief that we have done okay.
Many of us had a great Writing Academy training this week. We learned so much and can't wait to get started in the fall!
As I told you in the last Hoot, this summer I am going to put a question out to you every week and I genuinely want your feedback. A few of you have replied about an Awards Night from last week, but please, if you have any feedback on that, continue to send it. This week I would like to know how the mentoring program we set up at the beginning of last year worked out for you. I'll be honest. After my original kiddo moved, I fell off the bandwagon. I would like to know if you were able to continue all year with your child? If not, what were the pitfalls? If you did, was it a rewarding experience? What type of activities/interactions were you able to complete with your mentor child? In general, what do you think would make the mentoring program better or more feasible? That's the thought provoking question for this week. :)
Everyone have a great week! Spoil those dads on Sunday! I know I sure do wish I still had mine. :)
Love to all -
-- Marcy :)
