Session Recaps

We are so happy that you joined us for training July 31 and August 1! In those sessions, we touched on a lot of the key components for HRS leaders and campuses.

Cohort 2 focused on Level 2 with an emphasis on an instructional framework, teacher growth goals, effective teaching strategies and instructional rounds.

Cohort 3 received an overview of the HRS framework and focused on healthy school cultures and developing Professional Learning Communities.

Level 1

Professional Learning Communities

Now is a great time to fine-tune your Professional Learning Community meetings. These ideally are scheduled during the day so that teachers can utilize that time for instructional discussions. If you haven't already, have your teams set norms and decide on roles. Plan a system for monitoring these sessions so that all stakeholders stay informed.

School Safety Checks

The beginning of the year is also a great time to perform some basic safety checks. Be sure your teachers and students know the procedures and routines for fire drills, evacuations, and emergencies. Since Level 1 includes having a safe environment, a little prevention and information can make a huge difference in how both students and staff perceive the school.

Level 2

Effective Teaching Goals

The beginning of the year is a great time to help your teachers and colleagues set personal growth goals. We are encouraging your ASOT teachers to complete the self audit (also known as the personal profile) as a way to identify some possible goals. The goal for HRS can line up or be the same as a teacher's T-TESS goal. You can also think about a campus-wide goal that all teachers will monitor and develop.

We have developed a new ASOT Teacher Reflection Guide, which was "assigned" through Google Classroom. We hope that your ASOT teachers have joined the Classroom for their group so they don't miss out on any important information. If for some reason your teachers are unable to join our classes, please talk to your district technology administrator about adjusting the settings to allow for this; some districts have had to contact Google Support for help.

Possible Instructional Coach Training

We have had a few campuses express interest in a session for instructional coaches. If your campus would like to send instructional coaches to an HRS-specific workshop, please send a quick email to Marisa Hafley so that we can look into scheduling that.
