King Communication
October 2019
Principal Talk
Dear King Parents and Community,
Thank you for being active participants in your child's education! We are preparing for parent/teacher conferences on October 23rd and 24th. We so appreciate the great turnout we have every year. At King we truly believe a strong partnership between home and school benefits students. We look forward to sharing with you the growth your child has made in the first quarter.
I also want to thank you for such a great turnout at our recent joint event – the PTA Barbecue and Open House. It was great fun to see students showing their families around King.
Our next big annual event is the PTA sponsored Fall Festival on Saturday, October 19th from 10-1. The King PTA has worked incredibly hard to make this a free event to bring our King Community together. We hope to see you there enjoying the fun! We are fortunate to have an active PTA who provides many free events throughout the year such as: Muffins in the Morning, Game Night, and Bingo Night. Please strongly consider becoming a member and joining us at our next meeting on November 11th at 6 pm in the min-gym. Another opportunity to support King will be on Nov. 11th at 5 pm for our monthly SAC meeting(School Accountability Committee). If you are interested in a behind the scenes look of a school then SAC is for you.
At King, our goal is to create and sustain a student centered learning environment. You have read and heard about our Capturing Kids' Hearts work, which focuses on connecting with each student on a relational level. Ask your student about the daily good things shared in their classroom and the role of a classroom ambassador.
Thank you again for a being an integral part of the King community. We look forward to working together with all of you to support kids!

Information from King
Word From Mr. Davis
My name is Greg Davis, and I am the new school counselor at King Elementary School. The school counselor works as an advocate for students, working to advance their academic, career, personal, and social development. The counselor helps students work through problems that may be keeping them from reaching their potential at school. As the counselor at King, I provide individual counseling for students. I conduct small, needs-based groups, dealing with issues like anger management and how to be a good friend. I also go into the classrooms to help teach social skills to address some of the issues facing a majority of our students, talking about things like bullying prevention and conflict resolution.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me here at King Elementary. I can be reached at 719-328-6016 or at gregory.davis@d11.org. I look forward to working with you and your student!

Student Council is back up and running here at King!
We will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week Oct. 21 - 23 (Monday - Wednesday). Students will have an opportunity to 'Say No to Drugs' by participating in Spirit Days for free on those days!
The Care and Share Harvest of Love begins Monday, October 28th this year, and will run until Friday, November 22nd. We will have spirit days during that time as well!
It is always such an amazing thing to see how our students and families come together to help our community at that time of the year!
