ACURIL President, Mrs. Dorcas Bowler, cordially invites you to attend ACURIL 2014 BAHAMAS.

The Caribbean information conference 2014 is a forum to bring all stakeholders (librarians, archivists, museologists) and other global information professionals to explore and examine in a proactive environment with a two-fold agenda.

First, To define and examine the concept of information literacy and its relationship to other sikills and forms of literacy. To show that in the midst of other educational goals, including functional literacy, computer literacy, library skills and critical thinking skills, there are connecting factors related to information literacy and important foundations for its development. To lay the foundation for a prima facie case for information literacy as an emerging distinct skill set and a necessary key to society's social and economic well-being in an increasingly complex emerging society.

Second, To examine the significance of preservation of the cultural heritage in our different knowledge territories in the climate of technological change while equipping the information professional to remain the gatekeepers and protectors of cultural property and intangible attributes of a group or society that are inherited from past generations, maintained in the present and bestowed for the benefit of future generations.

Theme I

Regional stakeholders, and the integration of Information Literacy platforms. Definition and related developments of the paradigm. Types of Information Literacy and a critical analysis for learning, research, development and implementation.

Theme II

Dynamics in Information Literacy implementation within the Knowledge Management systems in the Caribbean et al. An examination of the strategies and a shared consensus of a working paradigm with

a view to improve, redefine explore, redesign create and perpetuate the positive working component parts.

Theme III

A redefinition of Information Literacy & Cultural Heritage in an era of change. An examination and redefinition of user needs, onsite and virtual services with an analysis and evaluation of the changing trends within the larger Caribbean basin, preserving our oral traditions, forming partnerships and alliances in a changing and technological era.

Theme IV

Training models for professional development of personnel for the implementation of a 21st Century paradigm for information Literacy & Cultural Heritage development, creating festivals to expand the economy.

Special Theme V

A general strategic development plan forthe implementation and development of the Information Literacy and Cultural Heritageplatform for information professionals.
