Nurse's News
With the colder months approaching, it's essential to be proactive in preventing the spread of colds and the flu. Encourage your child to wash their hands regularly, cover their mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing, and remind them of the importance of using tissues.
Reinforce healthy habits at home by providing balanced meals, encouraging regular physical activity, and ensuring your child gets enough sleep. These habits contribute significantly to their overall well-being and academic success.
Absences: If your child is absent, you must notify the front office that your child will not be in school. Please send in an excuse note upon returning to school for both the teacher and nurse Jenny Goodwin (jgoodwin@mpsd.org).
Any absences related to an illness that exceed 5 or more days must have a doctor’s note. If absence is due to a communicable disease or bone fracture, a doctor’s note is required the day the student returns to school and should include any restrictions.
If you have any concerns about your child's health, or illnesses that may occur during the school year, please notify the school nurse at 781-319-3985.
If your child had any of the following symptoms today, please keep them home
Fever over 100 degrees (must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of tylenol or motrin to return to school)
Vomiting and/or diarrhea (if your child has had any vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours, they should not return to school)
Diagnosis of communicable disease such as strep throat or conjunctivitis (if diagnosed with a communicable disease and prescribed antibiotics, your child must not return to school until they have been on antibiotics for at least 24 hours
Remember, a healthy child is a happy and successful learner.

This week in the library we discussed what folktales are. To assist in our discussion, we read "The Mitten: a Ukrainian Folktale" adapted and illustrated by Jan Brett. This story also helped to enrich our discussions about the importance of sharing and kindness.
