Message from Dr. Kaminski

Happy Friday BSE Parents!

This week, although short, was action packed as all of our teachers engaged in a full data review around our fall NWEA data and previous RTI data. Collectively our staff, all of us, have placed a great deal of energy around understanding the educational and behavioral needs of our student body. Our staff will soon follow up with individual meetings that provide specific intervention plans for students, which will be implemented shortly. ALL parents will receive a PDF report of the math and reading NWEA scores from their teacher via email. This report will be sent as soon as the district norm data is in, so you can see a comparison to the National norm as well as the peer norm right here in HSE.

I want to thank all of our families who transitioned to Miss Day's classroom recently. Today I joined the class to find some very happy students engaging in a project on day 1! I also appreciate the enthusiasm of all of Mrs. Symons' kiddos as they were pumped to move into our 3rd learning cottage.

Today, and the next two weeks, I ask you to join me and the BSE staff on Twitter to share about the following concept:

WE as educators, parents, and family members MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF OUR STUDENTS!

  • Our beliefs in and around children make a difference!
  • Our kids need a community of support!
  • Together we can make an enormous impact on the lives of our students!

Join me on Twitter #KidsDeserveIt

Share the following:

  • Who is the most memorable teacher or community member who had an impact on your life that literally changed it?

  • What will you do to develop a deeper relationship with your child or a student in your community, one that needs you?

Thanks for joining in and remember to follow BSE @BSEhseIN. Use the #BSEBears Have an amazing and hopefully cool breezy weekend!

Fun Run Update

The 1st Annual BSE Bears Fun Run was a HUGE success! Not only did we exceed our fundraising goal of $15,000, we were able to provide 99 meals to families in need in our community. Our first Fun Run was a success for our school community, as well as our local community of Fishers. The school has earned just under $25,000 and we've collected 96% of the pledges. The Gaga Pit approval and installation process on our playground has begun, and we've added an additional $2,400 of funding to our 2016/17 PTO budget for furniture. The furniture will help encourage individual learning styles and choices in each of the classrooms. The PTO has also invited the teachers to suggest additional projects that can be considered for implementation this year. If you have an idea or see a need, we encourage you to speak to your child's teacher or a member of the PTO Executive Committee. With our fundraising needs for the year met, we look forward to providing activities that engage our students, parents and teachers in fun and learning at minimal cost.

Thank you for your support!
