Duke Memorial Baptist Church

The Messenger

From Bro. Randy

I am very excited to become the pastor of Duke Memorial Baptist Church and I am looking forward to working with each one of you as we seek the Lord’s will and serve Him together. My prayer is that we may always grow in our faith and share the gospel with our family, friends, and community in a bold manner.

In Acts 16, Paul was given a vision of a man from Macedonia. The man was pleading for Paul to come to Macedonia in order to share the Gospel. He had no idea what the results of that vision would become. By responding in faith to this vision it opened the door for the Gospel to not only go into Macedonia but eventually throughout the Roman world and throughout Europe. It also served as a springboard to spread the gospel to the rest of the world. It took a vision and Paul's willingness to step out in faith and believe anything is truly possible with God.

What is your vision? "Where there is no vision the people perish", Proverbs 29:18. What vision do you have for Duke Memorial Baptist Church for this year? What vision do you have for Duke Memorial Baptist Church for the next five years and the next ten years? Where do feel the Lord calling you to serve Him in the Church and in our community?

As we formulate our vision, it needs to be seen through the eyes of Jesus. If it is viewed through our eyes, we tend to only see our own problems, concerns, wants, and desires. When the vision is viewed through the eyes of Jesus we see other people’s problems, concerns, wants, and desires. We must always remember it is about Jesus.

Prayerfully think about where you would like to serve the Lord. Just remember giving out a glass of water in Jesus name is a service and can be a blessing. There are as many ways to serve Jesus as there are people. My challenge to you is to always be available to the Lord’s service as you seek where and how He may use you in the church, in the community, and in the world.
