Christ Child Academy Newsletter
October 3, 2019
From the Desk of Mr. Ruedinger
The fall weather is here and the temperatures have cooled off quite a bit in October. Please make sure your children are dressed for the weather each day. We go outside for recess several times a day unless it is raining or too cold. Long sleeves and jackets are recommended. Just a reminder..... Oct. 31st is the last day to wear shorts until May 1st.
Picture proof sheets are due today! Please complete the order form, make the check payable to HARMANN STUDIOS (or pay by credit card), and return to the school office as soon as possible. If you want a retake picture taken, please mark the box at the bottom of the envelope and notify the school office.
Christ Child Academy will hold "Walk to School Day" next week Wednesday, October 9 as a make-up date.
Please keep in mind there is no school on Thursday, October 10 and Friday, October 11, due to staff in-service. There will also be no school Friday, October 25. The school office is closed when there is on school.
Parent–teacher conferences are an important component of ongoing school-home communication and family involvement at Christ Child Academy. Our goal each year is 100% attendance of all families! Remember to visit the Book Fair located in the hallway outside the school office during your visit.
The CCA Calendar Raffles for 2020 were sent home in last week's Carrier along with incentive information. This is a major fundraiser for our school and the goal is for each family to sell 20 calendar raffles. These may be sold face-to-face or online via our school website if your relatives or friends do not live nearby.
No Carrier this week.

Should Bedrooms be No-Phones for Teens?
The authors of the study (Power et al., 2017) surveyed over 900 adolescents between 12-15 years and found that 1 in 5 reported “almost always” waking up to check social media or messages throughout the night. Those who logged onto their cell phones every night, or who woke up at inconsistent times each morning, were about three times more likely to report feeling “constantly tired” at school compared to their peers. Moreover, the former youth reported significantly lower levels of well being than their classmates.

Bullying Awareness Month
October is Bullying Awareness Month. This special month serves as a reminder that bullying prevention must be addressed. This year I would like to have students take an active stance towards focusing on this important topic. Each week we will have a theme with a corresponding dress up days. My reasoning behind selecting a weekly theme is to have the students be more engaged in the topic. I hope you encourage your students to participate! Thank you, Mrs. Lampe, School Counselor

BINGO
This school year we will run 8 regular Bingo Sessions and 1 SPECIAL HOLIDAY Bingo Session.
Each family will be responsible to work one regular bingo session, donate to one regular bingo session and participate in some way for the SPECIAL HOLIDAY Bingo Session.
Each grade will be assigned the session that they are to work and donate. You will then have the opportunity to choose the time slot or donation item of your choice. All slots must be filled by September 15th, 2019. If at that time, you have not signed up or have not volunteered in other areas, you might be assigned a slot for bingo. Remember that volunteers need to be 18 years or older and can be members of your family or friends.
We are looking to have 100% of our CCA families volunteer at CCA this year!
