EARTH DAY - APRIL 22ND
Mrs. Gordon's Environmental Science Class Celebrates Earth Day with the Elementary Students
Mrs. Gordon's Environmental Science classes wanted to celebrate Earth Day with the elementary students. Their plan was to do various projects with the elementary kids. So, each high school group researched and prepared a project focusing on “Earth” materials and how to conserve them. Some of the projects that were done were: creating a tree from mud paintings and leaves, a recycle sort race using items that can be recycled and reused, effects of oil spills using feathers and vegetable oil, melting polar ice caps using ice cubes and a hair dryer, and a “thumbprint” tree created with the student’s thumbprints. The high school Environmental Science class enjoyed sharing their passion for the Earth with the elementary kids and are in hopes this becomes an annual event for Earth Day.
