Preschool Parent Newsletter
November 2023
We are building a strong foundation for the future!
Our school expectations are simple. Help us by talking about them at home too!
- We are kind
- We are safe
- We work together
Thank you for partnering with us to help your child learn so much this year!
What are we learning this month?
Students will be learning about "Changes Within Us".
Our classes will be discussing why behaviors are appropriate or inappropriate in order to make responsible decisions and build positive relationships. Students will learn to acknowledge and accept all emotions and use tools to self-regulate emotions. Students will also learn how to use problem solving steps and apply them to be solution oriented.
We continue to work on literacy and math skills in circle time, small groups and in our centers!
Veteran's Day is Saturday November 11

Parent Teacher Conferences - 11/16/23 from 4:45 - 8 PM or 11/20/23 from 8:30 AM - 4 PM
November 16, 2023, 4:45-8 PM -or- November 20, 2023, 8:30 AM -4 PM
Your child's teacher will schedule a 20-minute conference with you to discuss your child's social, emotional, and academic progress. Please contact your teacher if you still need to schedule this conference.
For students new to our program over the last month, these conferences will include questions to get to know your family better, as well as an overview of our Academic Parent Teacher Teams (APTT) program this year.
We want 100% of our parents to attend these individual conferences this year!
Preschool Library News
We have had such fun during library time, and the children are really getting used to the routine of songs, story, and book checkout. They get so excited to check out a book each week!
Please remember to keep your child’s library book in the “Pete the Cat” plastic bag, since it helps keep the book clean and dry inside the backpack. You should have a separate bag for the ARC books that teachers send home with your child. We have had a few water bottles spill in the past, and once a book is wet, it is no longer able to be circulated in our library. Thank you so much for your help with this!
Preschool Book Fair
Reading with your child
We send ARC and library books home in the backpack for you to use. We also encourage you to join the West Chicago library for additional books in your home.
As you read to your child, ask them questions about the pictures and stories and celebrate together all they are learning! Here are some comprehension questions for you to ask.
