Parent-to-Parent Support
"We as a community are stronger together and better equipped knowing we have somewhere to lean. Last fall our entire family tested positive for COVID-19 and began our ride on an emotional train that seemed to be never ending.
"Beginning with the word "positive" which normally would be a good thing, the disbelief that this could be happening, then the fear for your health and the health of your family. Followed by the anger of who to blame and then the shameful guilt that you did something wrong when you were trying to be so very careful and the social and emotional chaos you are about to serve up to your friends, family, school and community.
"Finishing things off with the anxiety and responsibility that you could have harmed someone you care about without realizing it causing even further heartbreak all of this while you yourself are sick and recovering from the virus. Leaving the lingering fog of ...will we be ok and what will be the long term effects of all of this be?
"The truth is our summer months were spent barely leaving our yard staying as safe as possible and my husband who is a firefighter brought COVID home with him. This virus is unbiased, unforgiving and unfortunately will have a continued impact on our lives in different degrees for the foreseeable future.
"My hope and reason for sharing our story and my contact information is to let other families know you're not alone, the emotions are real and validated and we'd love it if we could help even one family navigate through the COVID ride and lessen the load.
"As there is a greater need for support while we all navigate through this year, the PTA has committed to continuing the Parent-to-Parent zoom calls however if your needs are more private and not something you wish to share in a public forum please reach out. There is no reason to get through it alone, let's take the ride together and build a community of resources along the way."

Employer Donation Matching
As we approach the end of the year, you may be thinking about charitable donations. The RES PTA is a 501(c)(3) organization, and if our work is valuable to you, you can consider making an angel donation right here, or by mailing it to the RES PTA at 33 Lonetown Rd., Redding, CT 06896.
We'd also like to remind you that your employer might be like Thomson Reuters -- a company that generously matches employee gifts to local nonprofits doing the work communities rely on. If that's the case, please let us know, and we'll help you complete all the paperwork you need to make it happen!
