Stage Notes

East Lincoln High School Chorus & Theatre Newsletter

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

August 2019

The Stage Notes Newsletter is published the first of every month and contains lots of information about both the Theatre Arts and Choral Music programs at East Lincoln High School. We want to try not only to get the word out about upcoming performances but also to keep our community up-to-date on what our students are doing and how they can partner with us to produce the highest quality programs.

If you have friends, family, or neighbors who would enjoy this monthly look into theatre and chorus, share with them our website, www.EastLincolnOnStage.org, and they can sign up to receive the newsletter at the bottom of any page.

Thanks for being a part of our performing arts community!

EMBRACE THE UNEXPECTED!

"Life is full of surprises and serendipity. Being open to unexpected turns in the road is an important part of success. If you try to plan every step, you may miss those wonderful twists and turns. Just find your next adventure-do it well, enjoy it-and then, not now, think about what comes next."

Our first performance of the year is coming quickly! Join us on Tuesday, September 10 for our annual Broadway Á La Mode cabaret. Beginning at 6:30 pm in the East Lincoln Black Box, our students will be sharing their favorite musical selections from Broadway past and present. We will conclude the evening with ice cream! Is there a better way to open the year?

As we gear up for this season, we are looking for THREE Signature Sponsors to underwrite our mainstage productions. Each show will have one Signature Sponsor and that individual or business will be listed prominently on all marketing materials for the show, as well as a lobby advertisement for all performances. Each of our mainstage shows is different and reflects a different cost for underwriting.

The Adams Family - $750

Hairspray - $1000

Peter and the Starcatcher - $500

If you, or someone you know, would be interested in becoming a Signature Sponsor, please contact Mr. Franklin using the contact information at the bottom of the newsletter.

On Saturday, October 5, we will be hosting a community yard sale on the East Lincoln campus. $10 reserves your 8' x 16' space. If you would like a larger space, please contact Mr. Franklin directly. You will need to supply any chairs, tables, or tents.

This event will be held rain or shine. In case of rain, the event will move inside.

Set-up may begin as early as 4:30 AM.

How to reserve your spot:

  1. Contact a chorus or theatre student.
  2. Visit www.EastLincolnOnStage.org
  3. Come by the school during regular school hours (7 AM - 4 PM)

We will have concessions available and hope to continue adding other vendors.

Please, no weapons of any kind, or food items that would compete with our concessions.

Help us spread the word! The more spaces we fill, the more customers we will attract to purchase items. We are very excited about this new event and hope that it will become something to look forward to annually!

It takes TEAMWORK to make the DREAM WORK!

A Little Help From Our Friends...

Big picture
We love to hear the words, "How can I help?" There are several ways to support the great work of our East Lincoln performers. Check out the various opportunities below and see if there are one or more areas you are led to support.

Make A Donation

We accept donations year-round and while monetary donations are great, there are other donations that help us just as much! Below are some items that are currently on our need list. Some items are a one-time need, others are ongoing needs. No matter what type of donation you are able to make, it will be appreciated, and we will make sure to provide you with documentation of your generosity! As you might imagine, our needs change regularly. You can always see the most up-to-date list on our website under "Support Us."

Extreme Makeover: Theater Edition

Big picture

All artists deserve a venue where they are able to share their work with others in an environment that dignifies not only the finished product but also the creative process. With the absence of an auditorium, we are trying to create such a space for our performers and community members. In previous years, steps were taken to begin a conversion process making the current theatre classroom a more formal black box environment. We have continued with that work this fall and are very excited about what we have been able to accomplish thus far. Unfortunately, the next few steps are not only the largest but also the most expensive. To truly make this space a proper performance environment, we need to add a theatrical grid on the ceiling, curtains, and a lighting system. It is our hope that there are performing arts supporters in our community that would enjoy contributing and being a part of this very exciting transformation! If you are interested in contributing to our "Extreme Makeover" or would like more information about the project, please contact director Greg Franklin at gregory.franklin@lcsnc.org.

We hope you will also share this information with others in our community so that others know of the need and have an opportunity to be a part of this work.
